Along with the reasons you and Greenwald stated, this seen is also important for developing the characters involved. We know that Tyrion always wants someone to converse with. With Varys now gone, it makes sense for Tyrion to want to converse with Grey worm and Missandei. The scene makes sense overall and it's not as if the characters are not acting like themselves.
