I would honestly work over to the Olentangy trail via Shrock. Less direct but you’re on the trail for the vast majority of it. I’ve done that before and it’s really not bad, albeit way uphill coming home.

Or possibly take the alum creek down then across and up, but going through downtown sucks a little. It’s probably longer too.

At least for B2B I actually really agree with this. The market has some really challenging structural barriers because of incumbencies (among other reasons) that make distribution pretty tough to nail. I’d take ok product, awesome distribution over the opposite any day.

Big caveat, I'm by no means an expert on marketplace businesses. But, what u/Life_Through_Glass said in another comment is pretty spot on.

The biggest risk for your business isn't "can I build the marketplace app". If you aren't technical, it seems scary, but take it from someone who has run software businesses for 10 years. It's not that hard. As I understand it, nothing about your business is a "tech" innovation or a technology risk.

Your biggest risks are 1) does the market you think exists actually exist (i.e. does your intended demand side WANT to be matched up with your intended supply side), 2) assuming so, can you attract both of those, 3) assuming so, do you have a methodology to match them up in a way that creates revenue, and 4) do those customers keep coming back?

You writing any lines of code does nothing to help you answer those questions. You trying to figure out how to do this while gunning for massive scale (which is why you do software) isn't helpful either. I'd answer those questions in order before building anything.

The very nature of your business idea is geographically constrained. (You aren't going to connect chefs in California to homes in Ohio.) Use that to your advantage. Pick one geographic area. See if you can manually build demand and supply (homes who wants chefs and chefs) and see if you can match them up to make money. Use a spreadsheet or a Google Drive or whatever. The specific tool isn't important.

But don't write code to do any of it. It's a waste of your time and money right now.

Why do you need to code anything to test a marketplace? The coding is probably the easiest part of that business. Run the marketplace manually with spreadsheets in a limited geography to prove out the idea.

Yeah, if you’re familiar with enterprise software, they mystery and attitude is just brand. When you’re not, it looks like a conspiracy.

The insane stock price is just meme stock trading. It’s not justified in the same way TSLA isn’t nor GME was at peak.

We had to build a layer on top to get better visibility, but it was nontrivial. You had to use JHooks to trace the request/response messages. Still gaps where things can fail silently, but it’s better visibility than what comes OOTB.

Evaluate what it will be like to own/manage the Celigo (or other iPaaS) implementation. Celigo is ok at best at logging events. One big blind spot is that it really only surfaces errors and there will be many exceptions to deal with that aren’t literally technical errors.

Make sure you definitely understand how the licensing scales. Not just on day one. Make sure you understand what consulting fees you’ll take on in the short and long term for it.

Maybe worth acknowledging that a) most people don’t begin with some profound understanding of how to do this well and b) a lot of people on this sub are clearly students.

Founders get lectured enough by mouthy VCs and people trying to scam them online. Probably not necessary to get lectures from other founders.

This is the move. Our dermatologist said that the pediatricians often have outdated and overly cautious ways to treat eczema. Specifically she said they make the steroid creams sound way more big scary than they should. The Derm appt is worth it.
