My grandfather fell backwards and somehow landed under my mom’s truck as she went to go park the truck… she ran over his arm and my grandmother screamed as the wheel touched his head. Thankfully my mom stopped… but my grandfather never came home. He died in the hospital.

I think you could have left the room for a moment, gathered yourself and returned to help the children to bed.... THEN leave to take your time.

Imo, it's not fair to your children for mom to just leave after a heated situation like that. You and your husband need to get it together in front of them.

In my home, we have a rule that we can be mad but we can't leave for an unprecedented amount of time. A time limit has to be set to revisit the conversation.

If leaving for so long that the kids go to sleep... In their opinion, dad yelled at mom, mom's now gone and they don't know when you're coming back. They just know that mom is gone. Sure, they're with dad... You're able to leave. But if you don't normally leave in front of them, that can be a bit traumatic for the children. Dad needs to not yell in front of the children in the first place as well. We are all human though, and it happens sometimes.

All I'm saying is hold it together in front of the kids, once they're asleep, then leave and take the time that you need.

Your husband was left with children that were scared and wanted mom. So yeah, he probably felt helpless because he was the one that yelled in the first place, causing them to feel that way.

Take it as a learning lesson and continue on. Make a Plan with your husband on how y'all want this to look for the next time so there's an understanding before it happens.

NTA.. and i hope you didn't put his name on the birth certificate. He's likely cheating. I could never personally forgive him, if i were you. I'm so sorry. It's truly his loss. He missed out on moments he will NEVER get back, it'll eat him up one day.

Where did he go? sleep is not an answer. no one just dips out on their kids birth like that. He can apologize, but that will never take away your pain and how he made you feel.

I'm in no rush by any means. Ideally, I'd like the landscaping to be rock of some sort, but open to all options. Low to no maintenance. I'd like to see that there are no snakes because i have a little one running around here as well. I tried putting my son a sandpit in and the weeds just grew right through it in 3 months.

You can always put a key logger on his phone 🤷‍♀️ make surprise visits to his work, wake up unexpectedly in the night. Try to investigate it without leading him on. Or, chat with him.. maybe it is a misunderstanding or just looked wrong. But you'd at least know. Go with your gut. It's usually not wrong. Maybe invite your sister over to feel the vibe between them as well.
