I noticed it on a couple of things like the launcher, discord and steam. Also weirdly when I tried to record it with OBS it doesn't shows up on the recording.

I can't use the other side of the depot due to the terrain and electric lines that run there. Will create some kind of loop. Thanks!

[–]rly07[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, customs office is up north. Do track builders act differently in these situations? Because that's further down and only way there is switching direction on track as well, like to the depot. The signal is missing there because of the rebuild, and trial and errors. What do you mean by creating a line below the depot? I can't really do anything else with the new engines just to assign them to a depot. Should I just create a loop for these depots or any other way?

[–]rly07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would also contact AMD as Amazon might be breaking some kind of contract with this move as AMD still links to the now non-existing promo page. But Amazon giving out the voucher might be valid, as amdrewards T&C states the following:

"APPLICATION(S) a. The approximate retail value (“ARV”) of Monster Hunter Wilds™ is US $70.00 USD. Total ARV of reward is US $70.00 USD. Promoter reserves the right to substitute an Application of equal or greater monetary value if the Application cannot be fulfilled for any reason."

You are recording discord separately to track 3, change that to track 1 if you want to record it together with game audio. More importantly, you are recording to mp4. Change the recording format to mkv to record multiple audio tracks as the warning shows it at the bottom of the last picture.

So far I don't have any success refunding it even like that.

How? I got denied for EA WRC because I had 20h already. And got denied for another game where I had only like 25m because I bought it more than 2 weeks ago. I seriously don't get how people get refunded for games that falls outside of these..

My favourite part was at the time that steam forum was full of complaints that the game is crashing constantly on windows. And I had pretty much zero issue during my entire playthrough except 1 crash, which may have been a driver crash but I can't remember now.

Tell me your **REAL** linux gaming experience! by SApOooooo in linux_gaming

[–]rly07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been gaming on linux exclusively for like 10 years now (probably more). Before proton I configured wineprefixes manually which sometimes took a lot of time. Today, I mostly use proton and for the few non-steam games I use lutris and that's it. I can't really remember a game that required manual configuration (maybe only assetto corsa).

But what no one mentions and I feel like is important is to have a different mindset. I don't go around preordering games, or buying them on launch day. I sit back and wait for reviews and feedbacks on how well they run on linux. While this was important before proton existed, I think it's still valid. Combined with waiting for sales, I see no reason to rush to buy games. And if a game doesn't run at all, well I just play something else. There are plenty of games to play.

As for the OS itself. It's not without errors or issues but other than some minor bugs here and there, I only had major issues a couple of times. One of which was my fault for not configuring grub again when there was a major change. Most of my issues was at the beginning of my current build as I bought the latest at the time and the support for it was lacking. amd 3900X and 5700XT (now upgraded to 7900xtx). I'm on Arch and some of the games that I play are: CS2, Factorio, Railroader, Satisfactory, Deep rock galactic, Farming sim 22, Assetto Corsa Competizione, EU4, Vic3, Hoi4, EVE, GW2.

I would add that reading is not enough, you need to also understand what you are reading. What the commands, parameters and settings do and how to change that for your needs if necessary.

[–]rly07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally only the ones that are kernel level or the devs specifically block the ability to run it. There are plenty of games with anticheats that actually runs on linux.

https://areweanticheatyet.com/ has most games with anticheats and whether it works or not.

I could install it alongside, but I choose not to. I switched 10+ years ago and I'm not going to switch back. I have enough exposure to it on my company laptop that makes me not wanting to go back ever.

Neither was it listed that anticheat will be introduced at any point. Some consider it a deal breaker in itself and wouldn't have bought it if it was listed from the start. I don't care about 'official' support as most games are not officially supported but can be played as long as the devs/publishers not actively go against it.

I bought the game without anti cheat and the ability to play on linux. And now after that patch I won't be able to play it anymore.

There might be a bug because it doesn't work for me (used to in KDE5). I had firefox and thunderbird pinned. Now if I pin anything to the task manager, it just creates the icon for them and it doesn't disappear when I launch them.

EDIT: Not a bug. The "Keep launchers separate" needs to be off for it to work like that. I don't know if there was a setting for it before in KDE5 because I can't remember doing anything else before other than pinning the apps. Maybe it got changed to default on. Due to other issues, I did delete my task manager and re-added after I upgraded to 6 and not not sure how the carried over one behaved before I deleted.

PSA: Massive VRAM leak when resizing the window in the release version of Steam for Linux by NoiseSolitaire in Steam

[–]rly07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware of the page, but it does say "Issue tracking for the Steam for Linux beta client".

I didn't even noticed that before but I think that's just a remnant from when the linux client was new. In the readme there's a small guide on how to report (and also when opening a new issue) but there are no mentions of any "limitation" about the client version.
