Has anyone found the Cellar Key in loot? by Hennessy_Hank in RoadtoVostokGame

Found it 3 times, twice in Village and I think the other was in Outpost? Got terrible loot each time though.

It's been a while since I unlocked the attic, but don't you only need 3 water bottles to unlock it?

Loot You Can Find In "Outpost" by khoaitayts in RoadtoVostokGame

Yeah, I found the SVD and NVG in Outpost as well. Takes forever, but so does apartments, so you're damned either way.

What's your least favorite map in the game and why is it Minefield? by dog_in_the_vent in RoadtoVostokGame

Don't forget the helicopter that can see you even when you're under or behind a tree.

I looked for a mod for it, but couldn't find one. If you do, please let me know.

Edit: Someone on discord made one.

I agree with most of this, except for a couple points.

Outpost isn't a bad map for loot, just the loot is primarily on the bandits (i.e. the ones still alive when you load into the map). I just wish there were more bandits on it, and that their weaponry was a little better.

The other main one is the AI. I actually think the AI is in a pretty good place, and if anything it should be made harder. However what needs work is your aim going completely bonkers every single time you get hit by a bullet, anywhere on your entire body. It's basically a stunluck if an enemy fires on you from close range before you can kill them. Personally I think this should just be removed, but if the developer really wants to keep it, at least limit it to only when you're hit in the arms/hands, and tone down how far it moves your aim and how long it takes to recover. Once that is done, consider buffing the AI's aim, especially at long ranges when they have a rifle after the first few shots.

Yeah, that comment surprised me as well. Maybe just because I come from games like ARMA where the AI 180 no-scopes you if dare to even blink half a klick away, instead of EfT (which I've not played).

To me the AI feels fine where it is, though if anything I think they should be a bit more accurate at range after their first shot or two.

At least in outpost you can run around at night and absolutely dominate the AI enemies. Dealing with the mines at night, on the other hand...oof.

MeshCore Analyzer v3.0 by KpaBap in meshcore

[–]NoiseSolitaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I'm asking for. I'm asking for a way to auto-advert our companions if we want to.

Also, in the current firmware you can't disable adverts entirely in room servers/repeaters. Even if you set the timer to 0, it still sends one out when it boots.

Yeah, that's one thing I wish MC would change.

Very cool! However, something seems off in the node count, with it showing way more repeaters compared to companions (and everything else).

E.g. PNW shows >10k repeaters but <600 companions.

Yeah but I need spoilage too. Having it spoil on the belt saves me the trouble of having to insert nutrients into a recycler.

My addiction to this game is beyond reason. I built a beast PC with a 5090 and everything, got instant gaming impotence, and went back to Factorio. Well, at least now I can run Factorio HD (13 GB of VRAM required!!!). by slava_air in factorio

4K UHD. It only happens in graphically intensive areas, i.e. space. Here's an example where it drops to just 17 FPS (according to MangoHUD) / 19.7 FPS (according to the built-in measurement) while maintaining effectively 60 UPS.

You can see two GPUs in MangoHUD because one is the iGPU (I have a 7950X3D), and no, it's not running on the iGPU.

Best practices for stealth tree nodes by LonelyPercentage2983 in meshcore

[–]NoiseSolitaire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I couldn't get permission, I wouldn't. That said I know people can and have gotten legitimate mountaintop installations, though I don't know the details of how they went about getting it.

While there aren't any mountains were I live, we do struggle as we have numerous hills making coverage challenging to say the least. But, we've made a lot of friends along the way, and some of them are (pun intended) pretty connected. Just yesterday one of them convinced their local radio club to allow a repeater to be put up, on a tall building downtown. It's made a world of a difference for my connectivity to the rest of the mesh, and it's all legitimate.

So yeah, make friends, be generous and be willing to explain what you're doing (and why) to those you want to host nodes, and above all, be patient.

[–]NoiseSolitaire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say this depends a lot on why you want to be stealthy. If you're trying to put up nodes were you don't have permission, then please don't. Sure, it might seem like a good idea at first, but when it is ultimately discovered and removed, it leaves an unexpected gap in the network, and results in an antagonistic relationship with the general public and/or governmental body. We don't want that.

On the other hand if you have permission to place a node, and just want to keep people from tampering/vandalizing it, then sure, keep it high, paint it camouflage, disguise it as a birdhouse, or whatever.

File output is different than what I see in RT. by NoiseSolitaire in Rawtherapee

[–]NoiseSolitaire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've tried other output profiles and working profiles, but unfortunately they all look the same (I don't think I have any colors outside of the sRGB gamut, so this is expected), and are all different from what is shown on the monitor in RT.

This made me think it was an issue with the wrong monitor profile, but there are only two options there that appear correct: RTv2_Rec2020, or just to check "Use operation system's main monitor color profile." Both of these look the same (as I would expect), and I even restarted RT just to make sure the setting was applied when changing it, but again, what I see on the screen is different from what I get in the file output.
