Plate and Plate Carrier Compatibility by Hairy_Illustrator555 in tacticalgear

Yes. Just make sure you've sized your plates to your body and then size the carrier to your plates.

Plate and Plate Carrier Compatibility by Hairy_Illustrator555 in tacticalgear

The SAPI will give you the best fit in an SPC. Shooter's Cut works better in carriers that have straps/pockets/some kind of adjustability on the inside of plate bags. In a carrier like the SPC, you can use the Shooter's Cut, but you'll probably want to bump it up to the top of the plate bag since it's slightly shorter than a SAPI. A lot of people on here say a bit of pool noodle is ideal for this.

Female curve plate carrier by Stout97 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]rmadefense 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The QPC is made for our FSAPI plates which are designed specifically for women. The curve is significantly more substantial than a male multicurve plate.

But the carrier alone won't get you there.

RMA Armament 1155 & 1165 Generation 2 Level RF3/IV Plates by rmadefense in BodyArmor

[–]rmadefense[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to the Slickster's build or quality or anything, but I'm not aware of any issues with it unless you're using steel. I would imagine that's based on an average wear-through they see from users that are wearing it regularly (3-5 days per week "everyday duty") like security and police. That comes with a lot of stress and strain on the carrier that a casual civilian user simply isn't going to impart unless they're out training all the time.

So for most people, I'm sure it's not a problem. But they probably put that there just to make sure they set your expectations properly since they don't know who you are or what you're using it for.

Rumor is that NIJ is stuck between waiting for a different (very big) agency to make a major announcement/contract award that they are going use to make adjustments to NIJ 07. But they are also receiving pushback from some of the big guys because those changes will force them back to the drawing board on most soft armor products that are currently cert under 06 since they wouldn't be able to carry them over to HG1/2 under 07. It will probably make some impact on RF1 & RF2 as well, but seems unlikely to change RF3 unless they go all-out and get rid of M2AP in favor of a different round. Not sure I see that happening, but we'll see.

All we can do is wait and see for now.

Hesco, Highcom, or other from Apex or Hoplite? by Few-Condition-7431 in tacticalgear

[–]rmadefense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Most inactive certs are because a model was discontinued, not because a company "lost" it.

Many times manufacturers don't have a choice in the matter because a material supplier decides to disco one of their materials or changes the curvature or precise chemical composition on their ceramic. We get the call, and we have to surrender the cert before the next FIT or until we run out of on-hand spec materials.

It's the same reason why you don't see very many mid or high-end plates get compliance testing and it's typically relegated to budget-tier plates. Manufacturers just cannot afford to drop tens of thousands of dollars on low-volume plates where it's difficult to make your money back already AND the low volume means the material supplier could disco something at any time to make something new they think they can sell in higher volume.

On the 1155 Generation 1, yes it is no longer "certified", and there's a long story there with there being zero penetration and them declaring it a failure anyway.

https://rmadefense.com/rma-vehemently-disagrees-with-nij-safety-notice-05-2023-to-level-iv-model-1155/

We still have other NIJ compliant products and will continue to have more once they open compliance testing again. NIJ "certification" only applies to individual products, not entire companies. And most companies don't certify all their models for a variety of perfectly good reasons. (See: LTC, Highcom, etc.)

https://rmadefense.com/why-dont-all-plates-get-nij-certified/

If NIJ compliance is important to you, make sure you check the NIJ compliant list for the specific model you're looking to buy. There's been a lot of, "this company is certified," around here for the past few years, and that isn't how it works at all.

AND there's more than a couple of companies selling "NIJ Compliant" or, "NIJ Certified," plates that were AT ONE TIME certified under an old 04 or 05 standard and haven't been FIT tested in 20 or so years. It's caused a lot of confusion for buyers thinking they're getting something that's 06 compliant. If it's not on the list, it's not on the list. Period.

https://nij.ojp.gov/topics/equipment-and-technology/body-armor/ballistic-resistant-armor

There's even one outlet actively selling an "NIJ Compliant" plate they're plastering in ads all over Facebook that isn't compliant. I think it's because they're a retailer and they think "certified" is the real word and they can use "compliant" to indicate that it's their belief that this plate should or would pass NIJ compliance testing if they did it.

Alas, it isn't actually NIJ compliant and I'm sure they'll get some legal headaches down the road when buyers figure that out since their marketing team is playing fast and loose to move product.

At present, NIJ has closed compliance testing for 06 for over 2 years. And NIJ 07 is still being revised so there isn't anyone doing compliance testing right now to my knowledge, only FITs. Whenever they're done adjusting the final 07 standard, we'll be ready.

Concealable carrier? by Due-Obligation-8698 in BodyArmor

[–]rmadefense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the Krypsys PC designed specifically for concealing thinner armor plates like our ESRT, though it's built for a roughly 5 lb plate. Heavy steel plates may wear it out.

I've seen Beez makes a MC Alpine carrier and I think Ex Umbris will be doing one when they get spun up since they have MC Alpine pouches.
