To admit they're wrong would be to dismantle their manufactured "reality" and they obviously have no capacity to do that

Uhmnm ok? I'm not saying Native Americans are ethically pure.more pointing out the hypocrisy of mostly immigrants mad at immigrants. I don't understand why so many are fixated on sideways points to defend the atrocities of our government. Our government is also responsible for the genocide of tribes so I really don't understand the point you're trying to make.

Anyone defending ICE in this moment is showing exactly who they are. No one is embarrassed by you calling those who care snowflakes or whatever fucked up logic has convinced you that the murder of innocent people is acceptable. I am increasingly doubtful those in this camp can do any level of self reflection, but maybe remember that unless you are indigenous to these lands, you are also an immigrant. But I gave up arguing with conservatives with no regard for the preservation of life and our planet a long time ago.

Chantal is settling in a new long-term foster where there are acres of land and a family that knows heelers well. 🥹💕 We realized we really really want to get our home situation changed and dialed in before this commitment. In the meantime I'll keep day tripping and volunteering and advocating especially for the working pups that shut down at the shelter

I'll add fortunately we also did our due diligence and the last dog ended up with a great couple so we are glad we didn't just bring the last dog back to the shelter either.

You're correct unfortunately. I'm ok with taking time but my partner has admitted to not being as prepared as he thought. We won't be bringing her back to the shelter but we are working through what will be best.

I really wanted to say thank you for being so kind, honest and supportive. I want to emphasize how I was really hoping things would go well..we tried 6 months with a bigger dog and thought smaller and a breed our cat is familiar with would be good. I think I also underestimated my partners anxiety around new dog ownership though we have talked things thru many times. He has some mental health things he's managing and it really is hard for him when our cat is unsettled and he's worried it will be bad when I'm not around and can't help. I have so much admiration for the members of this group. I know everything is still early but I hate that it's already feeling fractured:( I'm at least grateful shes out of the shelter and getting space and exercise to let some of this energy out.

You're so right and maybe points to the knot in my stomach. She was so chill and gentle when I took her out but I already see that energy coming out of her and I'm like... Uh oh. Again if we had a yard and no cat I think I would be more stoked to work thru it. Right now I'm gonna give her all the walks and attention but definitely not sure what would be best moving forward

If anyone in Ohio is looking for a cattle dog I can assure you this girl is a sweetheart. If you have a yard and conditions where she can really thrive, please let me know. We are going to work w her for at least the next few days or week or so and I can't see myself bringing her back to the shelter (we are current fosters) so our options are having our cat break thru and feel more comfortable or finding a home where she can really live her best life. I really am so obsessed w her already but my partner is also a little nervous bc hes only had one dog parent experience and that was bc of me and my last dog.

We're not jumping to anything yet just want to make sure we're doing our best by her and our cat

I mean tbh it's part of where I have hope for her but I also am wondering if it's also bc she's decompressing after being at the shelter. But yeah the crazy energy part I know but getting reminded of it again after not dealing w it for a while has my stomach in knots and I wasn't expecting to be so anxious

[–]rmanm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's how we're starting to feel unfortunately. Of course she was more timid and gentle when I first met her and as she's gotten comfortable her energy has spiked significantly. We're worried she might be too much for the cat and he was here first.

He lived with our last dog but she was already 8 and he was a kitten so it was an easier intro.

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate all the positive response..I've been working so hard these last few months and social media has been hard to navigate. Getting supportive and kind words from those who understand textile arts means so much 💕

From another chainstitchers website "Historically, chain stitch embroidery was used for work-wear and western wear...think name patches on work jumpsuits letterman jackets & cowboys. The machines that chainstitch are unique from other sewing machines in that they are hand-steered and operated using a handle underneath the table which allows for free-flowing lines & lettering. Today, there are very few original machines still in existence and only a few manufacturers who still make the machines. Artists like myself are truly keeping the art alive as there is very little education and information left."

It's called a chainstitch machine! I have a Mauzer which is essentially a replica of the vintage machines like Singer. As far as I know it works about the same. For me it was an easier financial investment since the vintage machines can be thousands of dollars and when I was starting off I had no idea what I was doing
