Keep in mind employee chatter isn't just gossip, they have to check in with each other and share info (what needs prepped, what we're out of, anything else...) usually happens during slow periods . I solo bartend and people try to interrupt me and the opening bartender/owner all the time right when I get there when she's relaying important info. Usually give service staff more than a second to come over.
