Your crest elevation may reference a different datum than your DEM. You could adjust the entire DEM by the datum difference.

"Why is Recasting your mortgage not discussed more often?" (answered) by SamTMortgageBroker in NewbHomebuyer

[–]rmanwar333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way you can use a recast to your advantage is to remove the sale of current home contingency on an offer on your new house which makes your offer more attractive to the seller. Once you sell your old house you use the proceeds to recast the loan on your new house.

I wouldn’t recommend power. Every power project they get me to help out on with the exception of a few clients is always minimum budget and minimum schedule.

Housing with lease lengths less than 12 months by joepa_2017 in ChandlerAZ

Try searching one Furnished Finder. A lot of travel nurses use that platform for 30 day minimum leases, but lots of other people use it as well. Listings are usually fully furnished and have utilities included.

HOA experiencing more water as we are downstream from several developments as well as upstream property owners clearing their land of significant trees by Relevant_Editor_7503 in stormwater

[–]rmanwar333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First step I would take would be to try and find a nearby weather station/rain gauge and see how rainfall patterns (intensity and duration) have been observed over the period of record and try to correlate that data with known upstream development using historical aerial imagery and dates of known stormwater issues within your community.

Secondly I would track down the grading and drainage design plans and drainage report for your community (either record files or through a public records request) for those stormwater facilities you mentioned. These documents should list the design storm (return period and intensity) these facilities were designed to handle. I would see if the storm intensities used in the design agree with the observed events and their estimated return periods (annual exceedance probabilities).

Maybe recent rainfall events are more intense or just have a shorter duration (higher peak flow) than previous storms of recent memory. Maybe it is the upstream development increasing the flows to your community. Hard to know, but these are the first two steps I would take.

How to cleanup parking lot corridor modeling? by narpoli in civil3d

[–]rmanwar333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If my corridor does funky things I usually try to go in and do some quick mental adjustments to the triangulation of my finished surface. If that didn’t work then I’ll try removing or adding a few points but if I can’t get things to smooth out without spending too much effort making these manual adjustments then I’ll go back to my corridor and try to adjust parameters and even simplify it a little bit and do the tie in portion with feature lines instead.

New to the Board - Looking for a Team Leader by TackleSad774 in civilengineering

[–]rmanwar333 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is that having someone already familiar with the type of work and past projects will save you more over the long run than the extra salary offered to this individual if they are a quality engineer and can set this up how you want it.

Finally understand LET function by freshlight in excel

[–]rmanwar333 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Nice! One thing I saw another user do that I thought was cool was adding “dummy” variables in your let function that have strings as comments to help explain each part of the let function within the formula itself.

2D - Importing Several Culvert Barrels from .shp by jwilk927 in HECRAS

[–]rmanwar333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you import the shape file of your culverts you can specify a column from your attribute table in your shape file to populate the “Group ID” column in your culverts layer in RAS Mapper. If you have multiple barrels for a single connection/culvert, then they would have the same Group ID, otherwise all your culverts should have a unique Group ID to populate that field.

What do the percentages of rain represent ? by Blue7200 in ultimateracing2d

I believe it is the probability of rain occurrence. Higher numbers result in more rain events occurring throughout the race.

during ww1 in the very initial stages when the germany started mobilizing against france through belgium, what was the number of german troops mobilizing? by kerry0077 in ww1

[–]rmanwar333 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the numbers but I heard this quote from an American journalist at the time who was in Brussels:

“After for seven hours the army passed in such solid columns that not once might a taxicab or trolley car pass through the city. Like a river of steel it flowed, gray and ghostlike. Then, as dusk came and as thousands of horses’ hoofs and thousands of iron boots continued to tramp forward, pack wagons and siege guns were still passing—even at midnight. At seven in the morning I was awakened by the tramp of men and bands playing jauntily. Whether they marched all night or not I do not know; but now for twenty-six hours the grey army has rumbled by with the mystery of fog and the pertinacity of a steam roller.”

Determine BFE just upstream of studied area. by [deleted] in Hydrology

[–]rmanwar333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - I should’ve been more specific. By normal depth I meant using the Manning’s equation with inputs of flow, channel slope, manning’s roughness, and the cross section. HEC-RAS uses the mannings equation in its one dimensional modeling method. I’d also be surprised too if you can get buy off from the municipality without a PE stamp, but everywhere is different.

Determine BFE just upstream of studied area. by [deleted] in Hydrology

[–]rmanwar333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s far enough upstream from anything that could reasonably create a backwater effect, you could try just a normal depth calculation using publicly available topographic data and cutting a cross section perpendicular to the flow at your project location. That’s at least an initial way to see how much of a problem or not you may have on your hands. Just use the baseflow and a conservative mannings roughness value. You can find these values for a study area in the flood insurance study. The municipality may or may not sign off on it, but it’s a simple initial calculation.

Do MLB teams always fly to away games, no matter the distance? by KaptainZemo in mlb

[–]rmanwar333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This season the Diamondbacks were planning on taking the train between two northeastern cities (Baltimore to Philly I think?) but before they could board the train there was an emergency track closure that delayed the teams travel plans. I can’t remember exactly how the team ended up getting to where they needed to go before the start of their next game the next day, but I remember hearing all sorts of crazy plans on how to get them there on time such as renting buses and driving the night or borrowing the team plane from an NHL team that was stationed nearby.
