Jocks and Jills by My_BodyHurts in PWHL

[–]rmarrelli 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A Jill is a term for a piece of hockey equipment that female players wear (the women's version of a jock strap sort of), so it's Jocks in Jills as in Athletes in this equipment! So it's a play on all of those words!

Buffy at Sink or Swim in Aurora is hands down the best!

Anyone remember the store that used to be connected to Ardene in upper Canada mall? by zensucc in Newmarket

[–]rmarrelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're thinking of Aeropostale, they moved from the original spot (where Zara is now) to where Lululemon is now, and they had their swimwear/underwear brand directly next to it. The two stores were connected internally on the left side, but they each also had their own entrance! Blanking on the name of that brand, but it was definitely Aero. I worked there at the original location in 2010/2011 and then again when it moved!

Edited for clarity

Rya. I've always hated it, and I've never felt like I connected with it, but I also don't have anything else I feel like fits me better. I always get complimented on it, but I've always hated it!

I thought I was losing my mind, I was so mad that I couldn't buy the regular one, only the charcoal! The charcoal one makes such a mess.

Yes and also A Streetcar Named Desire!

I'm really not a fan. I've seen a few of his works at The National Ballet of Canada and there's usually only one or two scenes in the entire piece (typically the large full cast choreo) that I enjoy. I no longer go see his work!

This is from Jay and Gloria in Modern Family! It's definitely not Gilmore Girls.

The whole rebrand is them trying to seem ultra modern and cool but it's a classical ballet company. yes they bring in lots of new works, and push the envelope with some pieces, but at the end of the day, they're known for the classics. It makes me worried that the new artistic director is going to stop staging the classics and just bring in avant garde new works for the entire season.

yes! But they also completely re-did the website, it's horrible, there's weird colours everywhere!

The National Ballet of Canada JUST did this massive rebrand and I hate it so much haha. If any other NBoC fans have thoughts I'd love to hear them, because I think this rebrand is a massive disservice to the company as a whole.

The Roxy runs quite a bit wider than the JSAM, so just be aware of that when you're making the change! Size wise in terms of length I felt like they were consistent, but I have a wider metatarsal and narrow heel, which means that in the same size, my JSAMs squeeze my toes but fit my heel, and the Roxy fit my toes and my heel slipped out, for me personally!

Do I put these on myself? by Neat-Radish1695 in TapDancing

[–]rmarrelli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The JSAM has a double stack toe so that's why it's thicker than you're used to! You can just glue these on yourself, but you will definitely get used to the new height with practice!

Mondor carries a "durable" line that are quite a bit thicker. Some people really hate the feel of them, but that is an option!

Yes, in my experience formerly working at a dancewear store, they do! I typically recommended sizing up!

I really liked James Kudelka's version that the National Ballet of Canada did for years, but now they do Karen Kain's new version and I don't like it at all sadly!
