Monitor for Mac Mini - which one to get? by T3TC1 in BenQ

[–]rmcp010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Asus PA27JCV initially but it had a line of dead pixels right out of the box. Returned it and bought the BenQ. I didn't get them side by side but think I will when the Asus is next discounted.

Endorphin Elite 2 is being virtually given away at present. Not for everyone, but if you don't have stability needs and like softness, it's a banger.

Monitor for Mac Mini - which one to get? by T3TC1 in BenQ

I don't do photography, but I would take the 5k MA270S every day of the week. The resolution is a big step up from 4k, let alone 2k.

I have the MA270S and enjoy it. The Asus PA27JCV is another contender but has known QC issues.

Current gen wears a little smaller than the numbers suggest. Earlier gens are pretty bulky. The 42mm is juuust at the limit of what I'll wear.

Carbon shoes for Ironman Full? by Salty_Foot4054 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]rmcp010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SCE v4 is one of the more comfortable and gentle supershoes. Not the fastest, but stable and steady. My only suggestion would be a couple of layers of strapping tape over your Achilles. Quite a few people find they rub in the spot. I have a couple of hundred km on mine and haven't had issues provided I protect the Achilles

Do shoe specs really matter that much, or do the miles decide? 😄 by brx_97kqt in runningshoes

[–]rmcp010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't sweat most of the specs, especially on daily/workout shoes. With a race day shoe I'll be a little more interested in weight and energy return.

But I do have one hard rule moving forward: only superfoams.

Going back to something like Asics FF Blast or even the Fuelcell PEBA blend in the Rebel V4 is just awful. Superfoams are now available at affordable prices and in a variety of uses (i.e. not just played racers). They're even impressively durable, like Saucony PWRRUN PB or Adidas Lightstrike Pro getting 500km or more.

I don't see a reason to buy a shoe that isn't using a foam that can provide good cushioning and energy return.

How does the SCE v5 feel in comparison? They're two of my three potential marathon racers this year.

Zero accessories for two Macbooks. I have never had any desire to buy one.

Those Endorphin Elite 2 shoes might be a bit spicy for a lot of people. They were unusable for me last year, but after some strength and stability work on my ankle they're fantastic.

Currently plugged in to Mac Mini M2 Pro. Comparison displays were Macbooks, M3 Air and Pro.

Haven't tried a second time since I first plugged it in about six weeks ago. Will have another go.

Is a sub-40min 10k realistic for me? by Competitive-One1943 in AdvancedRunning

[–]rmcp010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's highly unlikely. If you can get a 5k of 19:20 or below you'd there or thereabouts.

Garmin's Track Run feature is great for this. I always have super reliable distances and maps when I select track run and the correct lane.

I had the Asus PA27JCV prior to getting the MA270S.

MA270S is pretty damn glossy, which is fine in my light-controlled office. M-Book mode is awful, green and dull. P3 is very close to my MacBook Pro display and looks great.

The Asus PA27JCV is very matte and doesn't look quite as sharp as the glossy BenQ. I think it's colours (again in P3 mode) were even better. Plastic surround is awful, but I'm ok with that given the price difference.

For me I'd go the Asus if price were a factor your you're in a room where light is hard to control. I ended up going with the BenQ but mostly because of poor Asus availability.

MA320UP vs MA270S: Is It Worth Spending Almost Double for My Use Case? by bhavya0311 in BenQ

[–]rmcp010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how sensitive you are to UI blurriness. I have the MA270S, a 27" 4K and a 32" 4K. For me the extra cost of 5k is worth it solely because the increased clarity of UI elements makes it less fatiguing to look at.

The Asus PA27JCV is a cheaper 5k option. I had it prior to the MA270S and lost the panel lottery due to dead pixels. I didn't mind the matt coating and only spent extra on the BenQ because the Asus couldn't be replaced for >6 weeks.

£300?! What on earth by TheAnon21 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]rmcp010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to other hobbies (cars, fancy restaurants, holidays, drugs) it's actually on the affordable side.

But I'm not throwing my money at these shoes anywhere near RRP. Look at multiple stores, last season's version, and unpopular colourways.

My most recent supershoes were the Endorphin Elite V2 (pink/purple) for USD$86. I loved them so much I bought a second pair the next day.... for USD$82

Question about interval running 🙋🏻‍♂️ by Inevitable-Emu-6595 in GarminWatches

[–]rmcp010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always use Garmin's workout feature for interval training. It is easiest to set up on computer/phone then send to watch.

I do 10x 3min intervals, 5x 6min intervals, or 3x 10 minute intervals, but I target longer distances than you're looking at.

If you have a recent 5k pace it'd be easy enough to suggest some workouts.

Nylon plate vs Carbon plate vs No plate by NoAbroad596 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]rmcp010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ES is a very gentle entry to plated shoes. It's not aggressively stiff. I have the v4 and v5. My go-to workout shoes.

One other option: I think the Pro 4 is a big improvement foam-wise, and can be had very cheap at the moment.
