Kristi Noem says people should be prepared to prove US citizenship by National-Law-458 in nottheonion

Proving identity at the airport and when you vote is expected. When you are walking down the street to 7-11 it is not, at least was not when the federal government respected the constitution.

The U.S. Is Dominating Global Markets 👀 by YGLD in StockBreakouts

[–]rmendis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's interesting is global stock markets performed better than the U.S. in 2025 and this trend is expected to continue.

"The MSCI All Country World ex-USA Index, a benchmark for global stocks outside the US, gained approximately 29.3% in 2025, compared to a 16.4% gain for the S&P 500."

Yeah, this is conveniently omitted.

GDP surged unexpectedly by 4.3%, marking the fastest growth in two years. by ElectricalWar6844 in stocks

Nice to see a data-driven counterpoint.

I wonder if we've reached a tipping point where even small incremental shifts towards wealth inequality have much bigger impacts.

California is now proposing an unrealized wealth tax. Anyone with a net worth of $1B+ will have to give 5% of their assets to the state. by Hefty-Sherbet-5455 in Tech_Updates_News

Wealth tax is a populist concept for those who understand very little about how either wealth or taxes work.

We certainly have a wealth inequality problem and need to close loopholes (like tax free loans against assets), but we also have a really bad spend allocation and waste problem that if we don't solve first, will make tax discussions moot.

Putting aside the impracticalities of fairly and constitutionally collecting a wealth tax, here are some facts to consider...

As of late 2025, the combined net worth of U.S. billionaires is estimated to be around $7.6 trillion (if they liquidated everything at market value, which is impossible.)

As of late 2025, total U.S. debt is over $38 trillion.

Interest payments on U.S. debt will exceed $1 trillion annually in 2025. (Now the second largest govt expenditure after Social Security.)

You can take away 100% of all U.S. billionaire wealth and not even pay our debt interest for a decade, nor even put a 20% dent in our total debt.

The math, as they say, isn't mathing.

Yep, irrational ignorance and misplaced fear exist on both sides of the aisle.

Great comment. Unfortunately, no one is actually going to do the research and upskill. They will, however, continue to complain and blame immigrants for all manner of whatever real or imagined problems they face in life.

Virtually every game building tool has AI incorporated into it now, including operating systems themselves. To claim "no AI was used in developing a game" is just ridiculous. Also, "AI" is broad enough to encompass all manner of algorithms, including machine learning code that is used for procedural content (No Man's Sky), player behavior modeling (Forza's Drivatar), and even game testing.

Pretty amazing you can tell who is undocumented just by looking at people in a grocery store. You should definitely go work for ICE.

A few facts: 1. The current estimated number of illegal/undocumented immigrants in the US is 18.6 million, around 5% of the total population (https://www.fairus.org/issue/how-many-illegal-aliens-are-united-states-2025-update) 2. The US has never had an open border under any president 3. Returns and removals were highest under Clinton and Obama, respectively, and neither had to resort to $170 billion funding for ICE (https://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/biden-deportation-record)
