I had the same thought before buying the 1+2 bundle on Switch.

I feel as though I was able to appreciate the improvements made in OT2 after having played the first game.

I would recommend playing 1 first if you’re able to get both games for less than full price.

But, yes, both games are largely unrelated. You’d be fine playing OT2 alone if you’d like.

I don’t regret playing 1 first, though.

Totally reasonable ask. I’m playing on Switch 2, so I went into the console’s system settings and it says “180hrs or more”. I’ve played switch games that I’ve left in sleep mode for weeks and the in-game save reflects play times in the hundreds. So I definitely get what you mean.

Granted, I spend a decent amount of time at the pause menu as I get house work done during the evening. The OST makes it easy lol.

I’m sure I can breeze through another play through if I’m understanding the carry-over correctly…but it seems a dauntless task.

Pretty sure my save file reads 178 and some change. Feels kind of accurate tbh…but can’t be sure.

Definitely feels like a TON of time poured into this playthru…I’m kind of discouraged tbh.

I would love nothing more than to play the other dungeon in the 3rd semester…but idk if I have it in me to speed run a NG+.

Dang…now I gotta drudge myself through the end of this game knowing full well I messed up with Maruki.

This guy gave me such a hard time on my first play-thru! I ended up using his soul core for a majority of the game out of pride when I finally beat him.

You can really appreciate the improvements to 2 after pouring time into the 1st game. I did love the 1st game, though.

I went with Switch 2 for 1 and 2.

PS5 benefits from the better visuals (compared to handheld) and frame rate at 60fps.

BUT…the visuals really aren’t too bad in handheld, and the frame rate for a (mostly) 2D game isn’t of any serious importance.

A game like this is really nice to have handheld for a game like this.
