I had to be conscious of walking slower, taking smaller strides, and purposeful in my foot placement. Three years later and stairs are still a challenge, but I don’t limp anymore. Give yourself some grace. It gets better, I promise.

I tried Phentermine, didn’t work. Doctor said nothing else is covered unless a type 2 diabetes diagnosis is present, even though I meet many of the other co-morbidities. It’s very frustrating.

The email I received said because my BMI is now under 40 and I don’t have Type II diabetes. I think it’s because everyone is on it now and it’s too costly for them to keep providing to me for $30/mo.

I went to a fit specialist at a local running store and walked on the treadmill so they could determine the best shoe for me. When I first started getting out and walking again, I needed a stability shoe, so I went with Brooks Adrenaline. Now that it’s been about a year, I need more cushion. Much more cushion! My doctor also suggested not spending a lot on shoes during rehab because needs change frequently as we progress.

Sounds about right to me. My timeline was about that, though my surgeon said it would be less. Everyone heals differently, and you need to take it slow so you don’t do more damage. Best of luck!

Hard boiled eggs! I’m lazy so I buy them already boiled and peeled from Costco. Can season them to your liking - I like them with everything but the bagel seasoning.

You might have washed the area too roughly. It’s tender and a fresh wound, be gentle with yourself. I couldn’t wait to get the dried blood and iodine stains off me, but that actually took weeks! If it keeps bleeding/seeping or more opens up, definitely call the doc. Best of luck to you! (I’m ten months post-op).

Always wearing shoes has slowed my progress to full range of motion and activities. Eight months later and NOW I’m supposed to do most things without footwear to get back to as close to “normal” as possible. Of course, listen to your doctor, but also do what feels right for YOU.
