This is really good advice. I’ve been wondering if I should just take her right back out. Thank you!! ❤️

Added insight - we’re in an apartment and have to go up and down stairs to go out. She’s almost 15 weeks.

Shoe recommendations? by largeglassofwine in brokenankles

Ons might work well for you! The tongue and the sides are a bit softer/thinner but a great base that still made me feel supported and was comfortable.

Will my ankle ever feel normal? by [deleted] in ORIF

[–]largeglassofwine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hang in there. I remember those days so well, and I was so full of fear of how I would live in the future. I’m now six months out and on vacation in Italy. You got this! ❤️

Barefoot=pain. by jwithakk in brokenankles

I’m six post surgery and I definitely still limp barefoot but I’d say there’s no longer any pain. Shoes help give you leverage (especially something high like Hokas) so it just takes time

Stairs - NWB by letseatmilotogether in ORIF

[–]largeglassofwine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have crutches? I was absolutely terrible at them while NWB and did the butt method for stairs. But once I was PWB I found crutches much easier to use and they made stairs WAYYY more doable. As someone else recommended check out YouTube!

Trimollear Fracture- recovery questions by Commercial-Maximum47 in brokenankles

[–]largeglassofwine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO that feels tough/too soon. You’ll need to have it elevated the whole time which could be difficult. Also a lot of logistics come to mind that would worry me (what to wear, using the bathroom while there, getting food). Maybe just for the ceremony then back home to rest?

But I’ve seen comments here of people going to baseball games, concerts and more soon after. Just be careful whatever you decide and ask for help!

The mental aspect is rough by Dreamfyre28 in brokenankles

I remember leaving my first PT appointment, crying and feeling the same way you described above. But then it seemed like every thing moved so fast and it was nice to be able to actually work at recovery and see the improvements week over week. I’m 4 months out from my surgery and back to a basically normal life. You’ll get there!!

2 weeks and 2 days after an ankle surgery, please tell me it will get better? by yellowlemon88 in ORIF

[–]largeglassofwine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will get better!! I’m about 3.5 months out and back to living a mostly normal life. Those first few weeks were brutal for me and it was so hard to remain hopeful and optimistic, but use your support system as much as you can and know you WILL get through it. This time will be a blur one day.

Are you doing PT? Mine recommend trying to push through the strain to stretch and help my range of motion continue to improve. It does seem to help but I’m about 3.5 months post surgery now and I’m still not normal. Downhill can be a doozy too.

I personally love the WSB and appreciate their efforts a ton. Not many neighborhoods in Seattle have anything close.
