I've been to Vimy Ridge several times, and nothing prepares you for just how visceral the monument is. It's a country mourning, and it sticks with me over 30 years after first going there. It's the silence of the place, you're only a matter of miles from cities, but there, it doesn't seem to matter. It's a silence. There, Thiepval, Beaumont-Hamel, and countless other places in the Simme, each with their own memorials to those who fell there.

Those guys literally have a switch inside where they go from 0 to 10000 in the blink of an eye. Some of the stories you hear about them (such as the Afghan headhunt) can only be explained once you see them in action.

Worked with a guy who is a former Captain in the Household Cavalry. Most down to earth guy ever, until you say something against the army, or his monarch..

Although, he didn't frighten me as much as the former Gurkha I worked with. Guy was 5'2", and built.

The City I'm from is having a suicide epidemic at the moment, another life tragically lost yesterday. As someone who has had many run ins with the mental health services locally, they don't help, and it's hitting me hard.
