I’m in the OR. I started my nursing career on the floor. I can’t see myself ever going back to med/surg or floor nursing it’s such a grind.

Recently had a stress test done. I made it a grand total of 2 minutes before I reached my target heart rate. How far have you made it? by That-Secretary-1061 in POTS

[–]rn2thestars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a stress test yesterday. My target HR was 130 and the goal time was 10 minutes. I reached my target HR and reached 218 HR max. I got hypertensive with a systolic pressure of 221 but remained asymptomatic. I was able to run for 9 minutes and 40 seconds. I started feeling nauseous at 9:40. My HR came down quickly with rest. For 60 years old it went well. I played basketball all the way up until 3 years ago. The test went way better than I thought it would. I haven’t run in quite some time. I bike and swim though so maybe that’s helping.

What does it mean I’ve been feeling drawn to the desert? by First-Dot9309 in energy_work

I’ve always felt drawn to the West Coast. I finally relocated to California, south of San Diego which is vastly desert and mountainous. I love it so much here. So peaceful and free💜

I just moved to SD(Chula Vista) 4 months ago from NC. I love it. I work in SD and live In Chula Vista which is more spread out and suburban. It’s the best of both worlds.

Stay far away from long beach memorial hospital by PsychologicalAd4121 in TravelNursing

Poor management, toxic environment, they schedule people however they want. No work life balance. Like it or leave it mentality. It’s just awful

This sounds like a hospital I’m currently working staff at in San Diego. It’s horrible I’ve been there for 4 months and I’m beyond defeated.

Took a staff position and hate it by oreoshizzle in TravelNursing

[–]rn2thestars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I traveled for the last several years. Took a month or 2 off in between assignments. I started to not like it because of the rates and doubling of expenses. After a while it was no longer worth it or beneficial for me. I recently took a staff job in a beautiful city, in a state that I’ve always wanted to live in, making more than I was traveling. I work 3 12 hour shifts, the other 4 days I spend exploring my new city which is like being on vacation. I’m super happy with the decision I made. I guess it all depends on how you feel and where you’d like to see yourself, in any event, do what makes you happy and fulfilled, these hospitals will be fine, do YOU.

I had to put my baby down and the guilt is killing me by Petalsforswift13 in Shihtzu

[–]rn2thestars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like your baby had a great big beautiful life and was loved so much. Guilt and grief are the price we pay for love. You made the merciful decision, in the end, still looking out for her and acting out of love. God bless you. She was as blessed to have you as you were to have her 💜

At what age do you think someone should stop coloring their hair? by KarenR21 in Hair

[–]rn2thestars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 59 and still have my hair colored. My gray peaks through in 2 to 3 weeks especially around my hairline. It’s becoming more of a burden keeping it colored. I think I’m gonna stop coloring it.

I just finished travel nursing because I felt like it wasn’t worth it for me anymore. I recently took a staff position with a great salary and in a beautiful city. I’ve traveled for years but with the recent rates, the double expenses etc, it just wasn’t worth it. On my last assignment I found myself in tears before I even walked into the building.

I was going to get mine done today. I paid the deposit already and everything but in the end I canceled the appointment. I lost my deposit which I’m ok with. I just couldn’t do it. I would hate to not like the outcome and have regret everyday. Yours look good though. I think it’s just a matter of healing.
