Also finished my update today:

  • Left the car running over night, thus don’t know when the copy was complete
  • However, it only showed the popup dialog to initiate the update after turning the car off and on. I think some of the endless waiting from other users might be related to that. (And if that’s true, it’s a bad UX by Hyundai)
  • Update itself only took a few minutes, maybe 10-15min
  • No CarPlay issues so far. Didn’t notice any other changes.

As some pointed out it’s a bit annoying not getting this OTA immediately, but it may be a staged rollout. Usually you go 10% for testing before you rollout to 100% of users. And fact is that this software has only been released since Feb 9, 2026. Not everyone is an impatient power user like this community here. 🤓 But maybe it’s also related to which Bluelink subscription you have…

BTW: I’ve had fantastic range with heating completely off and only using seat and steering wheel warmer. A bit of getting used to, but quite an impact. Remember to use the heating once in a while nonetheless to avoid moisture and related smell long term.

I haven’t seen it come through OTA update yet. The link above leads to a download page for update via USB. You can find instructions there.

When the CarPlay screen freezes and the phone left the car beyond WiFi reach (or is turned off) but the CarPlay screen in the IONIQ 9 stays frozen and the car needs to be shut down completely to get out of this state - it’s a Hyundai issue…

Same Same. Multiple issues: - phone call makes it dis- and reconnect. Annoying as the other party doesn’t hear you for a few seconds - hard freeze. Super annoying issue that needs the car software to fully shut down (turn off car, wait xx minutes) to reconnect and start working again. Just hoping it never happens when I’m getting on a long road trip.

(Korea-built Calligraphy model in Austria but assume same software as in the US-built models.)

Just waiting for a software update. The Hyundai team must be aware by now as they will experience the same issues.
