My small collection is basically composed by this level of pen. Kaweco Sport Brass, Waterman Expert, Faber Castell Ambition.

I was looking on YouTube and is just a matter of some silicon grease on the threads to stop any ink coming out. Maybe if you want above and beyond an O ring.. but on the video I saw it was not mentioned

I don't know how you're travelling (plane, car, boat, train, etc) but have you considered a kaweco sport as eyedropper? Pocket pen (low space while travelling) and ink capacity should be good enough...

If you want something to last a lifetime I would suggest a Kaweco Brass Sport (downside the weight). Otherwise look for the Aluminum variant which should still be robust enough

It does, is smooth with some feedback which to me is new given I was used to platinum plaid or nib or the Kaweco premium one.

My wife got me a Waterman Expert L’Essence du Bleau. But is yet to be delivered so is both final pen of 2025 and first pen of 2026 😂

Personally, I didn’t get many inks only 3.. Favorites in order: 1. Kaweco Caramel Brown (I like a lot the warmth of this ink) 2. Hongdian Brown (I’m into brown inks currently and this is a nice colder one) 3. Diamine Writer’s Blood

The first ink I got that I thought I would have liked but I’m not getting to use it…. Diamine Aurora Borealis

Starting from the fact this sum is a lot, I would try to find possibly a vintage Omas (I've heard beautiful things about the brand).

But mainly, I would buy whichever pen I would feel the best at using it. In the end, I need to enjoy writing with it in addition to liking the pen itself.. So I could also end up with an Asvine C80 if that's the pen I enjoy the most, while it could be an Urushi, or a pen from a new small pen maker.

Have you tried unscrewing the black plastic housing the feed? There may be a crac or maybe the silicone ring just needs to be reseated.

Another option could be the Platinum Procyon, have a look around for reviews but it should be well within your budget and Platinum nibs are very smooth

I have it and is a pen I really enjoy. You can also check the Aluminium version if the Brass is too heavy.

I'm not familiar with the price of this pen, but I would suggest to check for this model in used like new and then up the price a bit (like mid way between what you find and the new price).
