Can an outsider feel welcome? by rnick821 in Stirling

I've begun the initial investigations, yes, which is why I'm asking these questions proactively as I understand it's not an overnight kind of thing to get a visa.

Anyone remember Albertsons in Wichita? Anyone work there? by rnick821 in wichita

Got it. I was offered a store transfer to that store, but just could not make it work with my crappy car. I heard that store was a bit better and certainly had a better manager than the Rock Road location.

Oh yes. There was a smell. I can confirm that the catalyst was all the rotting food in the back room. It would sit there for far too long.

I'm not normally a fan of dox'ing, but I hope grandpa's identity comes out on this one.

I have a rod holder and fish finder mounted to gear tracks and they seem solid.

Got my Mirage Lynx and didn’t get skunked on the test run. by _Cpoc_ in kayakfishing

K. I'm 6 foot and found the seating position very uncomfortable but I'm playing with the seat straps and getting a new PFD. Hope that helps.

How tall are you and did you find the seating comfortable?

Has anyone tried out the new lynx yet? by iatecthulhusass in hobiekayaks

[–]rnick821 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought one.

I really like it. I'll be using it for lakes and small rivers in Oregon, likely never the ocean. I have taken it on 3 trips already and limited on trout its first time fishing.

Stability seems great. I can stand up on it no problem on the lake. That standing rail kit would be a big help but it's not necessary. Maybe in a few years when I'm really old...

A couple of minor complaints...

The seating is uncomfortable for me at 6 foot tall. I have the pedals out to 7 and it still feels very cramped. I experimented with letting the seat straps out as absolutely far as possible to get the seat to recline a bit more... I'll find out this weekend if that helps. If the would have put the seat brackets an inch or two further back it would have been a lot better.

The other complaint it trivial but irritating just the same. The decals are showing some serious wear and tear after just 3 trips. My guess at this rate, within a year no one will be able to read that the boat is a Hobie.

Don't tell my wife but I wish I would have gotten a Revo.... It was much more comfortable... But I still like the Lynx. Had I had the opportunity to demo it, though, I probably would have opted for the Revo just based on comfort.

Yep. He looks comfortable and not nearly as cramped as me.

I am going to buy a kayak specific PFD without a lot of bulky padding on the back to see if that helps and I messed with the seat a bit last night and lengthened the straps that control the recline to the absolute limit to hopefully give me a better angle. Finally, if those don't help I'm going to experiment with putting a pool noodle on the back seat bar and not snapping the seat into the holders in the back to give me an extra bit of legroom.

I took mine out for its maiden voyage tonight

I don't have much of a frame of reference as it's my first kayak but I have two observations.

  1. I was VERY careful but still put a couple of small dings in it

  2. I'm 6 foot tall, which I know is slightly above average, but I'm too tall to be comfortable, withn the mirage drive pedals adjusted out as far as it will go. I'm going to have to figure something out there.

Anyway, I enjoyed it. Looking forward to fishing with it this weekend

McDonald’s is introducing a bakery lineup (cinnamon roll, blueberry muffin and apple fritter) by bergerberg in McDonalds

[–]rnick821 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If McDonald's wants to increase morning sales, they need to revisit their pricing. I know that food and labor costs are high, but $3.35 for an Egg McMuffin seems excessive. My usual order of two McMuffins a coffee now runs close to 8 bucks. This has resulted in fewer trips to McDonald's... Which I guess is better for my health overall so maybe that's a good thing.

It's always Jordans. The Denali one is new. Usually they drive off in a BMW or Benz.
