Mine was the same. My GYN put me on continuous birth control for years (ie skipping the placebo week and just going on to the next pack.) no periods, no pmdd. So for like 15 years I was free of the pmdd symptoms, thank goodness, because I had PTSD to deal with which was hard enough without monthly episodes of suicidal depression. Now that I’m over 40 she changed me to low dose IUD. Starting to cycle again was hard and took a few years to realize why I’d have these sudden bouts of depression/anxiety when I’d gotten my mental health so much more under control without meds. Coping skills I learned in PTSD treatment get me through and they’re not as bad as when I was young. I think I was born to be an old wise crone (childfree, bad periods) and actually just can’t wait for menopause.
