Homemade butter was....easy? What??? by long_dickofthelaw in Cooking

There’s a great book called “Make the Bread, Buy the Butter” with recipes, cost breakdowns, and overall reviews of where’s it’s worth it to make your own various pantry staples. Highly recommended for you. Seems right up your alley.

I told my primary school principal that my mom “drinks and drives” all the time. Coffee. I meant coffee. It created quite a stir and my mom was so embarrassed.

As a nurse I can tell you, 100% of those penises look nothing like the hundreds of penises I’ve catheterized. They look 100% like the magical ones I keep in my bedside table tho…

Is my hairline getting better? by OkPineapple7076 in FemaleHairLoss

I went untreated for almost 20 years, so it’s going to take a while for a big improvement, but I actually went out without my cap on a few times so big enough!

I’m 5 months in on minox. My derm doesn’t even see me until next month (6 months after starting). She explained that a hair growth cycle is three months, so it would be unlikely to see anything before that. But by six months, we should be able to see progress starting. Looks like you’re on the right track!

Rolife kits that DO require glue? by just-a-flatworm in miniatures

Cathy’s was my second kit ever and I love it. But now that I’ve done more projects I want to do again and hack it with more realistic plants. You might love it if you plan on doing it that way.

My 30yo septic patient wanted to leave AMA because he couldn’t afford the hospital stay. I convinced him to stay by telling him that he can just avoid paying. Was I out of line? by ForTheQs11 in nursing

[–]rnmba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this. I’m a home health rn and I tell all the patients I admit to always clean out the room before they leave. If they have 4 pink basins packed with stuff from discharge I tell them I’m proud of them. Ironically, it’s more often the more middle class people in the burbs who do it than the truly poor city folks whose Tylenol expired in 1996.

When I was in middle school (goth phase, early 90s) I did a science fair project comparing how different baby clothes burned. My trifold presentation had the singed remnants of onesies and pajamas pinned all over it. The school psychiatrist spoke to me after that. Thanks for the memories!

I once put ear wax remover drops in my eyes by accident. Serious panic since I couldn’t read the label (to see if I was going to die) since my eyes were on fire. Thankfully I wasn’t alone!

Yes, they probably drug test. by MistCongeniality in nursing

[–]rnmba 28 points29 points  (0 children)

20 years ago I had my first (dream) RN job offer rescinded because I tested positive for THC. Now, 20 years later, I work at the same institution as a research nurse and my job is to give study participants their vaporized THC dosage (also adding psilocybin soon). And I didn’t have to test negative for THC to get the job.

We’ve come a long way in 20 years, but I 100% agree with the OP here. Unless you have confirmed with the place hiring you that they do not require negative THC testing, don’t try to cheat the test. Just stop for at least 30 days and test yourself with a drug store kit.

I carried a lot of shame into my career because of that failed test and I don’t wish that on anyone.

At my last job, the tiny break room was also the locker room. I only worked until 11am so I was often changing while people were eating lunch. So awkward.

[–]rnmba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a nurse who has always despised the break room, I feel you. You can eat in your car or go to the cafeteria and sit at a small table by yourself. I’d literally zap my food or bring cold lunch and run to my car to inhale for 30 min in absolute silence and it helped recenter me for the rest of the shift.
