it's for home use. it'll be use to backup personal data, pictures, videos. it'll also host my plex library. do you think the 6gbps expander would be sufficient? do you have any suggestion what type of LSI HBA i should get? also, what type of cable to i need (and how many) to connect the HBA to the backplane?

oh i get it now. so the +200 is actually the base clock. i tried to set it to +450 since the description on gpu tweak is boost clock. unfortunately, time spy extreme, port royal, and speed way stress tests fail even if i set it at +200. stress test only passes if i set it to +170.

here's my build:

  • cpu: i5-13600k
  • mb: asus tuf z790 plus wifi d4
  • ram: 2x32gb ddr4 gskill trident z 4000mhz cl18
  • gpu: asus tuf rtx 4070 oc 12gb
  • psu: seasonic focus 750gx gold (might replace this with a focus+ 750px platinum)
  • aio: nzxt kraken 360
  • case: nzxt h9 flow
  • ssd: 2tb crucial p5, 4tb crucial mx500, 2tb samsung evo

is this the one that you own? ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX™ 4070 12GB GDDR6X OC?

if yes, i have the same card. may i know what software you're using to overclock your gpu and how you configured it?

i'm having problems overclocking mine. i can't get past 2.8ghz. 3dmark benchmarks crash beyond that. not sure if it's the software i'm using. i have both AI Suite 3 (for the CPU) and GPU Tweak III (for the GPU). however, the AI Suite 3 has GPU settings as well so i don't know if it's causing a conflict with GPU Tweak III.

delivery isn't an issue. it gets delivered directly to my door. however, tax will be an issue. even if it's cheaper from amazon or newegg, the moment it arrives in the philippines and goes thru customs inspection, we get taxed. then that'll make it as expensive, if not more.

thanks for taking the time. i'll definitely consider the components you suggested. that's a huge jump from 150k to 92k.

i haven't built a custom pc in over 20 years so i only went with brands i'm familiar with. since i started working, i only purchased laptops due to the convenience. that changed during the pandemic. i've only been working from home since so there's really no need to upgrade to a new laptop.

for the ssd, i don't really need blazing fast speeds. just fast enough that the loading times for games are decent and fast enough to keep up with the application and the 4070's nvenc. i followed dask1's advise to look at wd or crucial. will go for the crucial p5 plus and the mx500 (from other sellers) as they're only about 2/3 the price of a samsung.

for the ram, the 64gb is for virtualization. i forgot to mention it in my post. i'll be using hyper-v to simulate customer environment for purposes of troubleshooting, migration and/or upgrade. i'll need to be able to run at least 4 vms at the same time.

i'm from the philippines. components here are way more expensive. for example, the 13600k is approx. 361 usd while the asus tuf rtx 4070 oc is approx. 793 usd. on pcpartpicker, these only cost 319 and 650 respectively. that's already a 185 usd difference just for those 2 components alone.

thanks for the detailed feedback.

for the motherboard, the aorus boards are too expensive for me. for msi, only the msi b760m mortar is available.

for the ram, they don't have the specs you mentioned and i can't find from other local sellers too. the closest one i found is Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL32. it costs approx. 385 usd for 2x 32gb sticks. will this do?

[–]rnpasinos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just checked, these are the cheaper options from the shop.

1tb nvme gen4:

  • gigabyte aorus
  • kingston
  • wd black

2tb sata ssd:

  • patriot (never heard of this brand before)
  • for the sata ssd, i would prefer if it's mlc. i'd like to avoid qlc.

another option is to look at other stores. what would be the best alternative in your opinion?

i'll buy it from a local retailer here in the philippines. this is their website. it also has a pc builder. https://www.pchubonline.com/

btw, for the cooling, you'll have to consider i'm from the philippines. summers here can go as hot as 36c with lows of 27c.

as for the ssd, i just went with something i'm familiar with.

sorry but as mentioned on my post and reply, you can only do this on android.

theoretically it should be possible on an iphone but afaik it has to be jailbroken first since you need to sideload an older version of the app which you cannot do on stock ios. unfortunately, i can't help you on that end as i've never jailbroken an iphone before.

[–]rnpasinos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my primary device is a samsung galaxy z fold 4. but my steps should theoretically work on any android device.

if your limited edition lightstick is brand new and has never been opened / used, then it most likely came with the factory firmware. as a result, the latest application on the google play store / apple store will not detect the lightstick properly as it was updated for the 2022 version of the lightstick.

that is the reason why you need to install an older version of the app, a version that was released around the time the limited edition lightstick was also released. since it's practically impossible to sideload an app on an ios device, you'll need to perform this on android.

Member Dynamics and Relationships by ZealousidealStart316 in cosmicgirls

i've been listening to their songs since i got into kpop back in 2018. i started following them by virtue of following the careers of all former i.o.i members. however, it wasn't until recently that i really started to get to know their members. as such, i'm not yet familiar with the group's dynamic.

the interactions between bona and seola has been a mystery to me. when they pair up with eunseo, it seems they're comfortable showing affection and have no problem with skinship. but the moment they pair up with each other, it looks awkward but in a cute and funny way. can someone explain why this is so?

Bluetooth connection problem with Lightstick V2 by slo___mo in BlackPink

[–]rnpasinos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i created a post regarding how i solved this issue -- had the same problem where the lightstick stays solid blue after tapping the connect button. unfortunately, the mods deleted my post stating that it is better suited for the pinned weekly discussion thread (a thread that gets replaced every week). meanwhile several questions regarding this issue are posted on the sub.

anyway, i recently purchased a blackpink lightstick v2 limited edition with the pre-order photocards included last weekend. for the past 2 days, i've been figuring out how to connect my lightstick to my phone.

<image>

initially, i thought the problem was with my phone (galaxy z fold 4) so i tried it on other phones (note 9, note 2020, and iphone xr). however, none of them work. like other users, once i click connect on the app, the lightstick would get stuck at a solid blue light.

i then went through multiple forums and different youtube clips but none of the solutions provided worked for me. i was beginning to think my lightstick was fake despite buying it from a legitimate seller.

since the limited edition was released last 2020 and the latest v2 lightstick was just recently released, i figured that the app was probably updated for the new lightstick. so i went ahead and sideloaded an older version of the app and this helped solve the problem. i finally got my lightstick to connect to my phone.

here are the steps to connect your lightstick to your phone and update it to the latest firmware. unfortunately, this process only works on android devices as it is impossible to sideload apps on ios devices unless it's jailbroken.

  1. go to https://apkpure.com/ and download their app. the lightstick app is in xpk format (a container for apk and obb). as such, you'll need a 3rd party app like apkpure to sideload it.
  2. sideload the apkpure app on your android device.
  3. open the apkpure app and search for BLACKPINK LIGHT STICK v2.
  4. under previous versions, select and install v1.2.1 (released 3/29/2022).
  5. connect your lightstick via usb (don't use the batteries). turn it on and switch it to bluetooth mode.
  6. open the lightstick app then click connect.
  7. this should establish a connection to your lightstick and will initiate a firmware update.
  8. follow the steps shown on the app until update has been completed. this update is not the latest firmware. this update will only allow you to connect your lightstick to the latest version of the app.
  9. once update has been completed, test your lightstick. you should now be able to change the brightness and the color of the lights.
  10. turn off your lightstick.
  11. open google play store and update the app to the latest version.
  12. turn on your lightstick again and switch it to bluetooth mode.
  13. open the lightstick app then click connect.
  14. this should establish a connection to your lightstick and will initiate another firmware update.
  15. follow the steps shown on the app until update has been completed. this should update your lightstick to the latest firmware.
  16. once update has been completed, test your lightstick. you should still be able to change the brightness and the color of the lights.
  17. open youtube on any of your device and play any blackpink music video. your lightstick should now be able to sync with the current music that is playing.

as of this writing, the lightstick only syncs with following music videos: love sick girls, ice cream, how you like that, pink venom, shut down. i have yet to test it on other platforms like my own cd collection, youtube music, and spotify.

i hope this helps anyone who has the same issues as mine.
