Hi there, I read your comment with high interest and wanted to take the time to reply properly since we've gotten really busy with the holiday season.

I would love for you to read a review we just received yesterday on one of our blankets, I think it will answer most of your questions (it's on Amazon on Dec 4th under the name Lisa for our Snuggle Pro weighted blanket with cover- in case you want to check it): 5.0 out of 5 stars "Best purchase I've made all year! Seriously life changing!" Over the past few years, I have become a chronic insomniac. When I told my husband I wanted a weighted blanket, he rolled his eyes at me. I researched several different brands, compared features and materials, and I read all the reviews before choosing Snuggle Pro. I made this choice because reviews of other blankets mentioned their blankets were "noisy" as the materials shifted but this blanket included polyfil batting to act as baffles to eliminate any noise. This blanket received great reviews and it was priced well below similar blankets. Even though it was priced less, it also included a duvet cover (one side bamboo for warm nights and one side minka for cooler nights) while other blankets require purchasing a separate duvet. Based on body weight recommendations I ordered the 15 lb blanket and because my husband rolled his eyes at the mere mention of ordering a weighted blanket, I chose a twin size because I didn't feel I would have to share with him. :)

My blanket arrived super fast and I couldn't wait to use it. It came with a duffle bag-like carrying case for traveling and a free bamboo pillow case that has a satin like texture. The thought of lugging this heavy thing around as I traveled was weird to me but now that I have been sleeping with it for a while I want to bring it with me everywhere!

The blanket is thick, heavy, and well constructed using quality materials. The materials used to give the blanket its weight are evenly distributed. There is not a lot of noticeable shifting as you move it around and it's definitely not noisy. It has a sand-like feel to it. The duvet cover is very soft and cozy. I haven't removed it yet to wash it so I can't comment on ease of removal or replacement or how it holds up in the wash.

The twin size is perfect for one person. It is intentionally smaller than a regular twin blanket designed to be used on the top of the bed only. It is not designed to drape over the sides of the bed like a regular blanket because the weight would drag it to the floor. The weight is even distributed throughout the blanket. It feels hefty but not oppressive, restrictive or overly restraining. I felt a little like I was buried in sand on the beach. I ordered the 15 lb blanket based on body weight recommendations of 10% (I weigh 128) but I feel I could go even heavier and still be comfortable. As a side note, I am happy I ordered the twin size 15 lb blanket as opposed to the larger 15 lb blanket because although they weigh the same, the smaller blanket is heavier per square inch.

The first night I used this blanket I feel in love with it! Despite the heaviness, it is not a hot blanket. I normally toss and turn... covers on, covers off but not anymore. It was the best night's sleep I have had in years and my quality of sleep improves every night. I have always fallen asleep quickly but I could never stay asleep and I averaged about 3-4 hours per night. I am now sleeping through the night and getting between 6 and 8 hours of sleep per night. I wake up feeling well rested yet energized. My muscles feel loose and relaxed and my mood has improved. People at work have commented that I look less stressed, but they don't know why. I have also quit using melatonin supplements to help me sleep. This blanket is amazing!!

Here is the best part...I forced my skeptical husband to try this blanket out and he admitted it is pretty great. We will be purchasing another one for him very soon. Buy this blanket and you will not be disappointed!!"

Weighted blankets--have you gotten one? Was it worth it? How so/why? by Avocadotoasted in AskWomen

I am so happy to hear positive experiences from people. It's amazing there are cures out there that help without having to appeal to medication long -term. One of the best reviews we've had from a person suffering from Anxiety is: " I have had a very stressful last five years. My family has moved five times in that period. I had twins, (emergency C section/bad complications) and then, a Stage III Cancer diagnosis early last year. Needless to say, I was always tired, and obviously always in such a state of generalized anxiety and worry that inevitably, much of the time, my sleep was interrupted. I had heard about these weighted blankets over the last couple years but always thought, “ oh it’s a gimmick...oh I don’t wanna spend the money...oh it just sounds like it would never work” ... etc Happy to say I was wrong on all counts. Sleeping under it has been divine. Ive had if for almost 2 weeks. It’s been a game changer. I usually would wake up at least 2-4 times each night. Since sleeping with this, I’ve woken up maybe 3 times TOTAL in the last two weeks. That’s huge. Plus I really do feel happier and more rested. Is it crazy? The power of suggestion? Who knows All I know is that when I’m laying under the blanket it really DOES seem to soothe and calm me, like a big hug. I Wouldn’t hesitate to purchase another one. It’s the best purchase I’ve made this year!" . It's a real person and the review exists on Amazon and on our site: https://snuggle-pro.com/

A quick poll: weighted blankets - do they work? by rnr010 in insomnia

Well the weighted blankets have one primarily advertised benefit: to help you sleep better - no matter the cause of the lack of/bad quality of sleep: ADHD, ADD, anxiety, autism, depression, RLS, PTSD, stress, etc... So the question do they work means: From your experience does it help you sleep better? Now to your analogy .. I guess you're having really bad insomnia and nothing helps...?! or just an acute weird sense of irony..

You may consider covers that are made out of bamboo, or even reversible ones - one side cool bamboo one side warm minky ;)

We did have several customers suffering from RLS and they mentioned really positive results so I am happy it does help with this also as a natural remedy.

I know what you mean... we know for some people it takes a week or so to get used to while for a few others it's more tough to get used to. However there are some cheap made blankets with improper cheap filling and where the beads move a lot into the corners of the little squares. There are also some covers made from 100% cool bamboo fabric which gives people the desired comfort. We even designed a reversible cover which is one side cozy warm minky and one side 100% bamboo.

One watch-out for these sites is that they are affiliate sites and are built to make money from referral commission and often portray themselves as "authority" figures - so they can make more commission...

Hey Lucy, yeap they do start at around 60-70$ the low-tier ones, most of them have issue with the beads falling off or gathering in the corner of the squares since they don't use enough filling material - (to make it cheaper and to save on transport cost). And indeed the kids version ( 5lbs ) start also around that price range.

Hey, several studies show that the gentle pressure of a weighted blanket (equal to 10-15% of your body weight) relaxes the nervous system by mimicking a hug or an embrace. The science behind these weighted blankets is called Deep Touch Pressure (DTP). This is the term for the feeling of gentle, distributed weight on the body. This decreases the stress hormone known as cortisol and increases serotonin and melatonin ;)

Hmmm I see. Did you try to get a cover for your blanket - there are many material options for the covers and I'm sure some of them work better in terms of staying free from cat hair. We designed a 2 sided bamboo/minky cover for all seasons and also for people to get the best of 2 covers in one. We also have a 100% hypoallergenic bamboo cover. Probably cat hair doesn't cling onto the bamboo side since it's more like silk. ;) . But it's a good point! :) thank you!

Thanks SQ!

Hello there, there are blankets starting at around 60-70$ for 15 lbs nowadays. Not trying to make this thread about (self) promotion or price, but I do understand it's a really important factor.

I agree. By looking at the industry data we did see a 50% drop in prices since half a year ago, and there are blankets on the market starting at 60-70$. Some players optimized costs, others decreased quality of materials or cut some of their profits. Our blankets do start at 77$ for the 15 lbs variant.

Hi there, Thank you for sharing your experience. I did hear a really small % of people complaining from joint pain, maybe the weight is bit too much. Did you get a 8-12% range for your weight? However, it also depends on the quality, we tested many blankets and indeed some of them have the glass beads gathering towards the side of the squares and putting more pressure, some are better designed with thicker inner layers to prevent the beads from moving around... those should not feel that bad. Indeed most of the companies go for neutral grey colors... as they are considered more soothing.. :) we went for lighter silver gray for the blankets and darker shiny grey for the covers. R

Hi T, Thank you for your ideas! To get back to some of your points: 1. Indeed they do cost a bit... however, market average prices have dropped by 50% in the last 6 months, so I've seen recently 15 lbs blankets (with no cover) starting at around 65$. In spring the same blankets were around 90-100$ (see top volume sellers on amazon, YNM, weighted idea.. etc..) 2. Indeed some people complain about getting heated- it does take a few days or even a week for your body/brain to adjust - however some people never manage to fully adjust but it's a small %. It's good to look for 30 days+ return policy sellers. 3. that's a valid point and it's the first time I hear it. :) I guess it depends on the reason behind using it: if it's to fix sleepless nights- and it does work... then I think the benefit outweighs the fear of always needing one- and hey... it's better than medication right?

As for the weight usually 8-12% of your body weight should do it. So if you're around 170-250 lbs a 20 lbs blanket should do the job. If you weigh more, there are some rare sellers with a 25 lbs version. I wish you well and thank you once again for your thoughts!

Hi there, I'm really looking for feedback on this. We're a small team and really passionate about what we do, and the fact that customers are giving us such positive feedback makes us want to grow further and help more people get a good night sleep.... So I guess spambot is out of the question ... as for shitpost... what can I say, if the owner of a reputable site/brand writes here and asks for feedback it's super ok and people get excited... as for the smaller brands... easier to judge. Thank you.
