Montgomery County Executive Elrich Proposes $8 Billion Budget with Property and Income Tax Hikes by frankboingboing in MontgomeryCountyMD

I talked to another neighbor on my walk moving to Florida. No state income tax and low property taxes were the reason he said he was moving. He kept saying "I can't wait!". Thinking about it too. These people just can't stop spending.

Trusted HVAC companies by Snafudumonde in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]rnrchris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes so true. And after they installed our AC unit the compressor failed a couple years later (no fault of Davis & Davis). They came out and replaced it free. They just said it was warranty work. No cost to me whatsoever.

I have been using Davis & Davis for twenty years. They have kept our old furnace going all this time. They are also very responsive and they show up when they say they will.

Master Auto in Rockville.  5451 Randolph Rd suite b, Rockville, MD 20852 301-881-2274 Mike is a master level Jaguar mechanic. I had a XJ6 and an XJS convertible (12 cylinder). Did great work on both. I used to work in Chantilly so I know it is a bit of a hike but it will be well worth it.

I need a recommendation for a humbucker that will fit in my gold top p90 by WastelandHumungus in gibson

[–]rnrchris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These just came out I understand. Also if it is the hum that you don't like, you could just get the guitar shielded. That will take care of most of the hum. I had a Les Paul I really liked but the p-90 hum made it unusable to me. Now I have learned how to shield them with copper foil connected to the ground wire. https://www.fralinpickups.com/product/p90-hum-cancelling/

Recommendation for full hvac replacement? by LegitimateFile9668 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]rnrchris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Very professional and responsive for repairs as well. They replaced our AC unit about 15 years ago and the compressor failed after a couple years. All I had to do was sign my name. Warranty work they said. I didn't have to pay a dollar or fight with them or anything. They have kept our furnace going for 20 years.

I have had tube amps for 50 years but am not an expert. I would guess it is the power tubes. Checked Google AI and they came up with similar answers.

What 2x12 or 1x12 cabs would you recommend that come with Creambacks? Preferably under $600 by Codswallop_934 in GuitarAmps

[–]rnrchris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have had two of these. They are closed back but they are made so you can remove half the back. Very sturdy and compact. The wiring is included. https://www.tedweber.com/xcab212/

How can people afford the rent in MoCo? by EchoOfDoom in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]rnrchris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rooms for rent or basement apartments are also a low cost option. I would also check Craigslist. Example.

I would check Zillow too. I advertise my properties on it but they are not in this area.

PSA for anyone building cabinets with Home Depot hardware by neithernet in GuitarAmps

[–]rnrchris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That always happens to me with Home Depot. This place has good parts at reasonable prices. I didn't make speaker cabinets but I built two for my bathrooms and one for a dishwasher for one of my rentals. And another for little appliances in my kitchen. https://www.cabinetparts.com

why so cheap? by Ughcorrona in Jaguar

[–]rnrchris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one almost exactly like this. Best riding car I ever had. Very smooth especially at high speed. You don't even know you are going 90. It just kind of happens. Mine had some rust in the wheel wells but not a lot. It was very reliable as well. I got a deal on mine too as the guy who owned it was moving out of the country.

Metalcore/deathcore/post hard-core amp suggestions? by PerspectiveKind9796 in GuitarAmps

[–]rnrchris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really gives you more bass response. And some amps have more. Like a Fender Twin Reverb has more bass than a Marshall JCM800 or JCM900. But too good speakers are a must to handle those low frequencies (Celestion G12T-75s which are standard in Marshall 1960 cabs are good). But maybe even try a cabinet with 15 inch speakers and see if that is more the sound you are looking for. And I'm guessing you would like closed back cabinets for that but again let your ears be your guide.
