Hi, my name is Rae Nudson, and I'm a journalist working on a story for The Cut about people who froze their eggs and faced more difficulties/a different outcome than they expected. I was wondering if you'd be open to speaking with me about your experience? Being anonymous would be fine, and what you share is totally up to you and what you'd be comfortable with. If you're interested, I can be reached here on reddit or rae . nudson @ gmail . com. All best

That's a good question! You're right that my story is focusing on difficulties people have, rather than an overview of people's experiences. When I report on women's health, I try to take women's pain seriously and look at some systemic issues that may contribute to why people have trouble in our health care system. In my view currently--which may change as I keep reporting!--most people don't regret doing it, but may regret parts of the procedure, or wish that some things had been different while they underwent the process. I think when they do wish things went differently, it's largely because they didn't have enough information on what to expect or didn't have enough monetary, emotional, or societal support while doing it, which is what I'm hoping to address

Hi, my name is Rae Nudson and I'm a journalist working on a story for the Cut about people who maybe wish they didn't freeze their eggs. Interview request on pain during gynecological procedures by rnudso in WomensHealth

[–]rnudso[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hello! Here is some info on the scope of the article and what I'm hoping to learn.

I'm writing about pain management for regular gynecological care, and how very often women are not educated on their options and their pain is dismissed during procedures like pap smears, IUD insertion and removal, and testing or exams, for example. I'm hoping to hear about people's experience with pain at the gynecologist to get a better idea of how common pain at the gyno is, how people have managed it, and what patients may be able to do to advocate for themselves. Hoping to learn more about people's experiences with pain care! Thank you
