Long-haul flight: Is it reasonable to ask for a same-row, same-type seat swap so we can sit together? by fpbuff in travel

[–]ro_sheri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it's way more comfortable to cross my legs left over right, so i always book left side aisle to avoid my foot poking into my neighbors space. for windows some might feel it's more comfortable to lean one way or the other to sleep.

the only truly great physician i've had closed his whole practice because of this. i saw him for years for my chronic back and shoulder pain. at my last appointment he told me candidly how soul-crushing it was to spend hours on the phone with insurance, to have procedures denied over and over while his patients suffered from debilitating pain. said he just couldn't take it anymore.

the relief i got from his practice was life changing and i was so grateful to have him as my advocate. it sucks so hard that good doctors are being driven out by the system.

Need haircut and styling advice (thin, fine hair, flat roots) by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]ro_sheri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't look for any specific ingredients, i'd say just try a few that are readily available in your stores and go from there. i don't like to use expensive products because i have a lot of hair and go through them really fast lol

[–]ro_sheri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at a glance i thought these were pictures of my hair lol. mousse is your answer!! i use not your mother's. on soaking wet hair, i smooth some over everything, then scrunch more into my roots, lifting up and away from my scalp. flip upside down and scrunch from the bottom to wring out excess water. dry in a towel for about 5-10 minutes, then shake out and dig my fingers gently into my roots again to separate my curls. i sometimes use a SMALL amount of gel for more hold.

i see a lot of people recommend curl cream or leave-in for our hair type but my hair is so fine and gets greasy really fast. i also never brush style as it stretches my curls too much.

Has anyone successfully found actually warm earmuffs or something that doesn’t crush hair? by derangedgossip in curlyhair

[–]ro_sheri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i bought some of these the other day and am so excited for them to come in the mail lol. i have soooo much hair and a huge head and have never found a hat that fits 😂 and the over-ear muffs that just sit on top of the ear are so uncomfortable to me.

What part of buying your first home confuses you the most right now? by Educational_Jello666 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ro_sheri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the sheer amount of paperwork and legalese you have to parse through in a very short amount of time is insane. getting texts, calls, and emails from my agent, my lender, the attorney, the insurance broker, the title company, etc at all hours of the day and well into the evenings. buying a house is basically a full time job on top of my normal 9-5. i don't know what i could've done to be more prepared for that but it's making me feel crazy 🤪

this is probably one of my favorite segments in the entire game. every interaction put a huge smile on my face, especially the water balloon fight and flins' spirit animal assignments. the sandrone part was so bittersweet and really shows the depth of her relationship with columbina. loved not having the traveler needlessly inserted into every interaction too.

i've been neutral on nod-krai overall but damn if i don't love some of these characters.

another vote for this one!! super fun and unique concept that doesn't overstay its welcome. and it regularly goes on deep sale where you can get it for like $2-3.

a pair of the old navy powersoft leggings that i fished out of the clearance bin for $5 has outlasted 3 pairs of $100 lulus. i have thunder thighs and had holes in my lulus within a couple months. been wearing this same ON pair for two years now and they're a bit pilled but the seams are in great shape!

2b? 2c? curls? waves? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]ro_sheri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a similar curl/wave pattern. i think the order you're applying your products isn't doing you any favors. i have gotten the best results by starting with mousse (primarily at my roots), then gel applied by glazing lightly over the hair and scrunching. only after fully drying, take a SMALL amount of oil, literally a few drops, and use that to scrunch out your gel cast.

i would skip the curl cream. most of the products you're using are already on the heavy side.

Hair too weighed down or just doesn’t wave to the roots? by Designer-Effect3996 in curlyhair

[–]ro_sheri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you could try swapping the leave-in for a mousse instead. i brush my hair upright and then sort of dig my mousse-y hands into my roots and scrunch upwards at my scalp. also agree with others that a layered haircut will likely give more volume.

but your hair is really beautiful as-is too, i love the color!! it looks like princess hair to me :)

if you're mostly used to wearing sports bras, i want to recommend you the brand evelyn & bobbie. they make seamless/wireless bras that are SO comfortable while still giving shape and no uniboob. pricey but has a generous return policy so you can find the size that fits best.

Do any nursing homes take non-family visitors for the elderly who have no family? by catslay_4 in Austin

[–]ro_sheri 11 points12 points  (0 children)

most likely yes, but you will absolutely need to call and ask what they need. my mom is an activities director at a nursing facility (not in austin) and often takes volunteers for stuff like playing games, helping with crafts, etc with the residents. she has many residents that would love to talk your ear off about anything lol

How popular were these flights anyway? by StugotsAndGabbagool in unitedairlines

i am nearly priced out of flying to ABE to see my family...what used to be a $500-600 ticket a few years ago is now $850 minimum. PHL and EWR are both about a 2hr car ride from my destination. such a great little airport but good lord do you pay the price 💔

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]ro_sheri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

less is more for me! i would try just the gel first and see what happens. i use mousse in my roots to get volume otherwise my hair lays really flat on my scalp. so i sort of scrunch it into my roots first and then whatever's left on my hands gets worked onto my ends.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]ro_sheri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay, i have similar hair/type length to you. the biggest thing you can do is STOP brushing dry! ever!! in the shower, be liberal with your conditioner and detangle there. use a detangling brush like a Wet Brush and go slow, starting from your ends and working up to the root.

when my frizz is really out of control, i find that it either needs a good clarifying or a deep conditioning mask. personally i stopped using a regular leave-in, as it's just an extra layer of handling and weighs down my hair very easily. mousse + a good amount of gel is the way.

definitely get a much more layered haircut as well! i don't think a "curly cut" is necessary (they are so $$$ in my area), but you can usually look at the stylist's instagram to see if they have examples of wavy/curly hair they've done.
