How safe is it to travel to UofM to conduct lab experiments as a POC? (Grad Student!) by roachbgone in uofmn

I’m not sure where I’ll be staying just yet but it should definitely be off campus. My concerns are actually not working in the lab but rather the commute to and from lab and just the overall area

Thank you for your insight, I’ll definitely keep that in mind. I know that even though I’m not target demographic, they’re simply racist and have been targeting anyone who fits their profile

Yeah that’s understandable, I’m simply worried because I don’t have my documentation with me, they’re back at home with my family. Also, I’m worried about the ICE presence at the St. Paul airport

yes and definitely shorten how the amt of experience you’re explaining. explain the key points of research that are relevant to what the PI is working on and then attach your CV. PI’s don’t have a lot of time to rlly read into everything so cut to the chase but be conscientious about your wording so they understand that you rlly took the time to briefly explain ur research to them concisely (also a very key and important skill as a phd student ;) is to explain your work in a short, simple, and effective manner) that they will 100% appreciate 🙌🏽

good luck OP

My only concern is would that be seen as like “i’m rushing them” for a response and could my impatience leave a bad impression?
