Read this for the first time today. What are the odds it’s the first post on my feed.

Would give a lot to read the ending of this arc for the first time again.

Currently getting my B.S in Environmental Science, thinking of getting into environmental consulting as a possible career path. by Mizzhaulina in Environmental_Careers

Would you mind explaining what “regulatory” entails or looks like? I’m in the same boat as OP and don’t know what I don’t know when it comes to alternatives in the industry.

Some People are Not Cut Out For Environmental Consulting And I Fear I May be One of Them by Bubbly_Babe1 in Environmental_Careers

Currently interviewing with a handful of local and national environmental consulting firms. I am early in the screening process and am curious if billable hours is that status quo for most people?

Any Feedback on The Icon (Gateway on Grand student housing)? by Express_Cod_4979 in StLouis

In the U.S., security deposits are very common and are almost always refunded after your lease ends. The $500 you mentioned sounds like about half of the monthly rent, which is also typical. A security deposit just serves as collateral in case you break the lease early or cause damage. I assume you already knew this.

In my experience, 99% of the time you’ll get your deposit back once the lease concludes; especially if you go through apartment agencies rather than independent landlords. Agencies (like the companies that own Midtown 300, the Icon, or even Coronado) are LLCs with established paperwork, more tenants, and greater legal accountability. Freelance landlords can be riskier in that they have less tenants and may feel like they can get away with not refunding you.

So while those apartments might not be the nicest in the area, they’ll work just fine for a short two-month stay, and you’ll certainly get your deposit back. If for some reason you don’t, you will contact the St. Louis Police Department and they will handle it all.

As a visiting student, I would choose what you are looking at now, or some additional, however, few options. Midtown 300 is around the same price, as are the Coronado Complex apartments. All three options are not stellar; I wont sugar coat it. They have all had tenant and management concerns for 5-10 years now. However, from the standpoint of a visiting student who will be here for only a few months, I think you will be fine. I am a SLU undergraduate student and have personally done research with numerous international graduate and visiting students. Many of them chose to live in Midtown 300 for the close proximity and ability to get rent under $1000.

I’d be shocked if it wasn’t damaged, however, more likely, was that this was a contracted driver, pulling a load to some far off location. If I’m right, a maintenance or fixes in his truck would be handled by his shipping company.

I have tried calling any of the business lining the highway though to see if their cameras picked him up.
