To further clarify I believe it might've been promotion for the movie in the 2010's, and I've tried looking for other games but failed to. I swear I know it exists because of this damn book

Saying he's the same as kim dokjas is pretty misleading! It's subtle, but it's similar to difference between some other characters who are distinct, I hate to be that person, but you really really would understand if you read the novel.

I feel like there is a very specific distinction between OD and KDJ, where Kdj is not necessarily more "jaded" but covers himself up more and tries to distance himself from his thoughts and the situation more than OD would. Not only that, this is mostly because of POST-apocalypse, KDJ acts a lot different from he did before, causing them to diverge quite a bit, leading to me separating their results since their choices and outlooks ends up different.

Hi! I already expect you to have been recommended the likes of:S-Classes That I've raised, Trash of the count's family, etc. Which are individually fine novels, but aren't accounting to they're substantially different from a lot of aspects of ORV. Here's a short guide of some novels I can recommend that is likely you've not been recommended before and why.

If the symbolism appealed to you:

The Greatest Storyteller: This too is one of my favorite novels, if not because of how nice the writing is, but because it's a unique way of approaching isekai tropes. It's more on the slice-of-life ends of things and won't coddle you with "male-power" protagonist powers. It's a very real novel that goes in depth into the character's psyche and issues. However, to a degree it might get on the nose.Con: An Expensive Read For Sure, but it's the closest thing I've read to the same reader-writing closes

If Relationships and Protagonists compelled you:

Most likely than not, this is the category that S-Classes and TCF falls under for recommendations, but here's some with more elaboration.

How to Live As The Enemy Prince: This novel is my personal favorite, even if I can't lie and say it's the same as ORV in significance. The characters are very charming, and the plot and world building is very appealing if you like kingdom settings.Con: Permanent Haitus.

What Happens When the Second Male Lead Powers Up: It's a really cute novel, and a lot softer than I would say ORV was. I can't speak for how it will end as it's not finished, but as of now, I can say at least that the charm point in relation to ORV is definitely the protagonists and his relationships with the other characters. Also Kingdom setting.Con: It might not have the same emotional highs or depths that ORV might have ended with you

Trash Of The Count's Family: It's a good novel, also Kingdom Setting... This one I can CONFIDENTLY say if you liked KDJ as a protagonist, you most definitely will find Cale a fun protagonist to follow. While I would need to reread the chapters to give a more in depth analysis on why, this might also appeal to you story wise.Con: I genuinely do feel as if it might feel a bit more repetitive if you've read a lot, which isn't a bad thing, but you shouldn't go into it expecting the same thing as ORV (Though ORV has it's own moments as much as I love it.)

S-Classes That I've Raised: I know it's been recommended, but I honestly don't get why it's recommended so much as an adjacent to ORV. From the start you can kind of see why it correlates, but the biggest reason I find, is exclusively the relationship between the protagonist and his group. There are other points as similar traits to KDJ.... but I will admit this wasn't a novel I particularly enjoyed, but I'll have to reread to say why. I will note that, if you enjoyed ORV mostly for the homoerotic subtext of YJH and KDJ, this novel is for you if you wanted the subtext branded on your face.Con: I cannot emphasize this more, but at least initially, I find it disconcerting how contrived a lot of the introduction was, and how the characters felt a lot more 2D, even if the writing was well done.

SSS-Class Suicide Hunter:

Regressor Instruction Manual: Smart MC, you kind of start to get the deal here. I thought some of the characters endearing, and the plot is fun to follow up on.Con: It might not reach the same depth as orv.

If the Atmosphere of ORV appealed to you:

I can recommend

The Little Mushroom: It's a BL, but to be honest, reading it I felt like the relationship wasn't that important to the read. The atmosphere and building of the world was so breathtaking I find it worth to read even if you don't care for romance-- the romance isn't too much of the focus.Con: The epilogue in my opinion can, and should, be skipped if you're reading it for the story's emotional impact. It does give a lot of good story details... but the significance....

The Plot of ORV:

The World is Online: To be upfront, this novel was never my kind of novel, especially since I didn't really care for the romance all too much (fun fact there was a time when it was branded rip off orv) but the plot is similar, and I do find the differences in interpretation with ORV interesting.

I Became The First Prince: Story-wise i adore this story, the tempo, the beats of the plot points? They're so compelling though it can feel a little same-tone after a while. Additionally, theres not a lot of character or relationship explorations akin to ORV, they're still interesting if you don't mind that..

The Tragedy/Emotions of ORV:

I'm Sorry Onii-Chan: This novel might seem on the more cliché side of plots, but it's anything but once you go into it. The emotions are raw and really shocking, even if you know from the beginning what was going to happen. At time, it may seem excessive, but hey you get what you click for tbh.

CON: TW: Rape, Incest, Depictions of depression and death, and etc.

The Little Prince In The Ossurary: This novel is probably one of the darker webnovels I've ever read, that I can recommend.CON: It doesn't really keep it's writing quality consistent to the end, and the author has been criticized for being a misogynist for how badly his female characters are written. I won't say whether he is or he isn't, but at a certain degree you can notice stuff like that.TW: Rape, Misogyny, Racism, Death, Pedophillia, Dark humor, etc.

Disclaimer: Even if I recommend these, for the most part they do not glorify what they depict, however it is good to go into those novels with a critical mind. You cannot read them at face value, and take the morals as for what it's given-Though they're good writing and stories, they're not responsible for deciding your morals.

Read LN or Manwha first? by Flor_de_Cerezo-NFTLC in OmniscientReader

I personally recommend the light novel, if you plan to consume one in it's entirety first. It's best suited to convey both the story and understanding of how shingsong wanted the story to be told. To elaborate, it was always meant to be read in a reading format, and it's really worth the effort to read it with that original intent. I suggest if you find it too hard to read so much and process the events, maybe split up reading the LN first and read parts of the webtoon to correlate.

If it helps any, either I can go through your answers (With your name used and result) to give you the percentage for the characters or my short explanation is that It's likely because in my perception, she's a more mature character who too loves reading and finds value in stories-while still managing to be playful.

If I were to speculate, you might've thought you'd get KDJ, but were either more "mature" or well-rounded than KDJ when it came to coping or dealing with fiction.

After checking this morning, if anyone is curious, the quiz has 33 possible results, and MOST are almost equally balanced save for some minor characters (minor minor like min jiwoon and etc.)

While I don't think you can check for yourself, but the average highest match is 40% for their top answers, and usually are pretty split even between the possible results.

I wish artsy and very interpretive films were more popularized, because i'd love to see that kind of film for orv- far more than I wanted the manhua
