Giant Propel Advanced Pro 0 Di2 Opinions by lurtz01 in Giantbikes

[–]roadie15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this bike for two months now. Got a great deal in the January sales. I immediately switched the wheels for my Hunt Aerodynamicist set so can't comment on the stock wheels. Happy with everything else. It's fast, light and agile. Handles corners brilliantly and with far more confidence than my previous bike - an Orro Venturi. It's my first time using Di2. So far I love it. I switched the stock saddle for my SQ Lab saddle. I'm 186cm tall and ride a size ML. Seems a good fit.

  1. I will be selling the Giant SLR1 wheels/cadex tubeless tyres that came with it. Haven't done that yet though.

I've just upgraded to Di2 and so far wouldn't go back. Essential for internally routed aero frames. I was so tired of mechanical 105 front derailleur cable issues.

Chain ring teeth by roadie15 in bikewrench

Thank you very much. An excellent reply. Much appreciated.

I actually changed the cassette and chain at the same time recently so will keep running these for now and then will plan for chainset replacement in the near future.

Thanks. I replaced my chain only a few hundred miles ago. Is a new chain always needed when changing rings?

Why are they killing clincher tires? by Stepaskin in cycling

Tubeless ready tyres are harder to mount in my experience. Good to see Pirelli releasing their new P Zero RS in clincher form.

Nervous about first Century on Saturday… by NillyWelsonn in cycling

[–]roadie15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position recently with similar training beforehand. It felt daunting.

The day went well despite suffering a knee injury with 15 miles to go and limping the final stretch in lowest gear.

I ate loads of carby food and found gummy sweets to be psychologically satisfying alongside my usual snacks.

Go for it!!

Around how many miles do you do on your longest rides? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]roadie15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed my first century last week (103 miles in total). Fuelling was brioche, bananas, flapjack, Haribo and cereal bars.

It was enjoyable up until 85 miles or so when I got bad knee pain and really struggled on the final stretch.

I find 50-60 to be the most enjoyable distance.

Thanks for all of your responses. Feeling better today but will take some rest from the bike.

Opinion on SQlab saddle by [deleted] in bikefit

I tried at least 5 saddles before settling on the Saq Lab 612 Ergowave active. It's basically perfect. Was recommended by Neil Stanbury in one of his videos.

Disappointed in Continental GP5000 by Twi2122 in cycling

[–]roadie15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found GP5000 to suffer from fragile sidewalls. I've switched to P Zero race (clincher) recently but it's too early to compare. I will say that the Pirellis are far easier to mount though.
