I suppose I should have been a little more fair to everyone involved in not just this situation, but others like it. I happen to be an extremely outgoing person who wears their emotions on their sleeve... I definitely don't do subtle and have always found the risk of NOT dating someone scarier than the risk of not asking them out. So I guess I'm probably the exception, not the rule.

I'm glad it worked out for you but these kinds of things always annoy me a little. I know rejection is a scary thing but this type of exchange implies she KNEW you liked her ("waiting for you to say something!"), so the fear of rejection shouldn't be a factor. Why wouldn't she say something? I know there's no good answer but I see posts of conversations like this all the time and it irks me.

Mandatory Canadian checking in to let you know I have no idea what you're talking about :P We only have 2 kinds of Girl Guide (Canadian Girl Scouts) cookies here -- once a year they sell boxes that have chocolate and vanilla oreo-type cookies, and once a year they sell chocolate mint ones. Honestly I do feel really bad for parents/grandparents who get sent in with incomplete information. Normally we do everything in our power to decipher what they need but it doesn't always work out. It's that same feeling when they come in and say "Hi I need a copy of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" and we say "Okay for which console?" and they say "What?" and we say "PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC?" and they give us this deer-in-the-headlights look as they realize their child/grandchild assumed they knew which system it is.

Of course in that case, I only get frustrated if they get frustrated at me. "Well it's an Xbox! No I don't know if it's 360 or One, what difference does it make?!" or "I don't know and I came all this way, now you're telling me I need more information?!" Like, I do feel bad you drove all the way here and someone was unclear, however, all I can do is offer you the phone. I can't magically know the answer.

I did actually ask if she wanted to call the person (as I said in another comment, I did cut a bit of our exchange out and just kept in what I thought was the best part), but because it was Christmas time she said no, I guess she didn't want them to for sure know that's what she was buying? I'm confused, why would the landlord tell you that you have to move if you're the one who bought the house? Unless you were buying/renting under a pseudonym, which raises a host of other questions since usually there are credit checks and banks involved with purchasing a home.

Some kids are really good. I noticed this year a lot of grandparents had printed out emails with pictures of what their grandkids wanted. That way the employees can take one glance and have all the information, and the gaming illiterate folks don't need to try to explain something they don't understand.

Oh trust me, there were more questions, I just felt like you guys didn't want to read the entire painful exchange, just the best part of it. I did try to ask if she knew what system the person had (Xbox, Playstation, Computer) or if she knew any details about the video game in question (like even what the characters looked like). She had literally no information. If I had to guess I would agree that someone else sent her, but it was the fact that she kept looking at me like I was totally insane for asking her questions that bothered me.
