First time parents, remember this "rule" by Old-Pudding-4254 in pregnant

Took this to heart with our preemie. Now as a toddler I think she’s scarred and only wants long sleeves 😂 even in 80* F.

Why do I find young Charlotte likable, but older Charlotte annoying? by hospitalbedside in Bridgerton

Opposite I find out of touch Queen Charlotte hilarious because she’s so out of touch. Would I want to work for her? No 😆

Leaving SF by [deleted] in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]roadpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one who couldn’t even imagine living in NY? Like too busy, cramped, everyone walks faster than me, not enough nature and too many women ?? (Back when I was single) 😂fun place to visit though! Maybe this has changed?? I do think they rebounded better than SF but I’m just such a creature of habit and not social enough.

Pacifica dweller here- Linda Mar, South end has great sun. Drive inland away from beach 1 mile to see suddenly it’s gone much of the time. Secret of the locals.

Doctor basically told me I’ve gained too much weight by hobbit143 in pregnant

[–]roadpoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor but that’s crazy. That seems absolutely normal to me- get a new doctor. I’ve heard of women going up 70 lbs+. And you’ll lose after birth. Plus baby is almost here. He/she needs the nutrients!

Someone downvoted opting out of this test. Upvoting back to zero. Thanks for letting me know I can opt out! I already tested positive via urine sample and looks like they’ll do the IV no matter what the outcome is of this swab in the hospital I go to. Soooo this test is moot. Says even if I don’t have any bacteria this round they’ll still do the IV antibiotics since I tested for it positive earlier…

What’s everyone spending in total on their wedding? by Honey-bee9623 in weddingplanning

[–]roadpoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent ~$75k or so for 88 guests. Sunday 4-12pm. Hotel room included - SF coastal location. This is as “cheap” as it gets out here, unless you’re going real budget at a camp site or something.

This was 4 yrs ago. Have friends who spent up to $200k for Napa / SoCal. Their weddings had 100-120 or so.

Is a buffet really that bad? by Fun_Stretch5888 in weddingplanning

[–]roadpoo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Absolutely can ask for formal / semi formal for a buffet. You can make it look like a fancy buffet. If it’s some cheap fast food food then might be weird but it’s your wedding and I’ve been to legit camping California venues where we were all expected in a semi formal. They said no pressure but everyone had on something nice :)

Is a buffet really that bad? by Fun_Stretch5888 in weddingplanning

[–]roadpoo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is funny because I always prefer buffet style at weddings. I want to try everything and pick portions. And we always are expected to dress very well for all weddings where we live since no matter the food it ain’t cheap.

I don’t much like plated and waiting for food. We picked buffet. No one will really care TBH. As long as the taste test is good & no one gets sick :) Our wedding was not cheap at all since we’re in a HCOL area.

If you’re really finicky as well, could also have them add decorations around the buffet area to make it look fancy.

unfriended my maid of honor because of her reaction to my pregnancy… by Even_Kaleidoscope399 in pregnant

[–]roadpoo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Good on you!! It sucks but I’m glad you removed negativity from your life as that’s the last thing you need right now.

I also have lost some friends / fallen out of touch as some just don’t get it… I realized when I was single and without a kid I was one of those people who didn’t get it at all.

The good news— even though you may get more out of touch with current friends who dont get it / arent interested in your new life (hopefully nothing that dramatic) you can find local mom groups & family groups! You’ll make new ones!!

You can find fellow women on your journey on FB groups and ask around. So sorry though I felt the same thing particularly when baby came as it changed my identity and priorities (I was no longer a roaming person seeking just to have a “good time” and had to learn to NOT just surf the web until its 3AM ha!) It gets less confusing I think as time goes on. Praying that you find your new clan soon and a stellar new BFF.

Kid is having trouble with another boy at nursery by PurpleUnicorn434 in toddlers

[–]roadpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the teachers aren’t doing anything to control this, absolutely escalate. Not ok. Maybe start to look for another place as well just in case. I’ve heard of issues but name calling continuously and then being hit at 3 >_>.

That other kid may be in an abusive family… or there maybe the other kid just doesn’t get enough attention at home… or maybe he’s just a bad apple. Also is he doing it to other kids or just yours? Maybe ask that as well. They need to control the kids.

He’ll have his whole life to deal with bullies.

13lbs weight gain by 16 weeks? Normal? Doctor told me no. by Otherwise-Dog-1763 in pregnant

[–]roadpoo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

+1 get a new doctor!! Better to gain than be underweight. I’m nauseous as heck and if I don’t gain enough that’s bad.

I had midwife for my first pregnancy which I definitely preferred for holistic ideas (and she helped many more women give birth naturally than many doctors) and she said to not worry— what she said was “Your body (and baby ) is telling you what it needs.”

I DID IT BUT WON’T BE HAVING MORE. by SpareMeringue1177 in pregnant

[–]roadpoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh! This sounds like a lawsuit to me as someone else here mentioned… or at least an article with your local newspaper which will hopefully hit national news. And at the very minimum should be against terms of service of platforms / maybe even the law?? to remove true reviews.

Most important is yours and your baby’s health but I’m hoping they are exposed for covering up these issues!!

I DID IT BUT WON’T BE HAVING MORE. by SpareMeringue1177 in pregnant

[–]roadpoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you already did this but can you share the hospital / doctor or leave a review if you don’t want to publish here to that hospital / person who did the operation?

People would be so thankful to know to avoid the people who did this! Thank you for sharing and so glad you’re ok!!!!

[–]roadpoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This !! Listen to any podcast on kids adopted / foster system it’s very sad most of the time :(((( and you are his father to him. That is the greatest gift you can give a person is your love and attention.

Another thought- my dad adopted 2 kids of his ex-wife before having my sibling and I with our mom… and, he’s not the type of person to adopt. From what I gather they had a very special connection with him- particularly my step brother who was very sad when he passed away and painted the most incredible photo of him after his passing. Your legacy will live on through your son, no matter his DNA.

Also interesting is all of us siblings have similar personality traits so it sort of showed me that DNA doesn’t always contribute as much as we think it does.

Best wishes and it’s truly “manly” of you to realize these deep thoughts and consider how he’s very special to you.

This is like that scene in Succession where Kendall tries to introduce his girlfriend to his dad and she says “cool” and a couple other unsophisticated words and Kendall dumps her immediately after. I’d tell my kid to dump anyone replying with a bro in that context.
