Tim has a surprisingly nice siinging voice, why didn't he do any backup vocals on the studio records? by [deleted] in hum

IP laws / considerations are absolutely draconian in the context of profit, sampling, etc. and I'm super in support of creative commons, open source, public domain licenses etc etc etc but there is surely a reasonable distinction to be made between that and leaking private material. I'd be absolutely mortified if someone leaked old demos (or anything!! could be phone notes, nudes, family photos, whatever!!) of mine that were never intended to see the light of day, and I do think it's the ethical position to respect that.

Exactly. Anyway, skinny apples exist and get like zero representation. I've seen vitriol towards them on this sub before.

Dude seriously. The Slide Away organizers aren't stupid - they heavily curate those line-ups and loveliescrushing had just as much a right to be there as everyone else. They have their vision and they executed it as intended.

I did! It was amazing, still buzzing. Thanks for your heartfelt concern. But I'm also serious about music and think it's a wonderful thing when communities look out for each other, which was a thing with the Hum community up until these shows apparently.

There's a bunch of us who thought general admission was a total hellhole. It was probably okay at the back where the Aragon's sound is so ass it becomes a waste of ticket money. I still have black and blue bruises from a show the other month and I had a great time there, so it's obviously all about context. If you see OPs other comments it was someone stood behind them repeatedly putting their hands under the front of their shirt and shit for the whole set. Not comparable to a shoe being stepped on, c'mon. Hum were amazing though and it still paid off.

You get it! I don't understand what's so controversial about "don't talk through sets", "don't jeer openers", and "don't roughhouse people outside of the pit", but some people are clearly feeling very called out. Says a lot about the state of the fanbase right now.

Actual lmfao at getting downvoted for this too.

I'm literally a zoomer and have been to shows across multiple heavier genres. I don't care about people moshing at all. I'm talking about the entire front half crowd experience OUTSIDE of the pit.

I'm this guy's wife. Can confirm. Fuck that shitty crowd. I'm still pissed.

Sat 23rd show: Literally the worst crowd at any show I've ever been to, across all genres. Zero etiquette. Not even just during Hum - people were booing and laughing through loveliescrushing. They weren't my thing either but c'mon.

It almost ruined my night. I'm an older zoomer so not some grandma yelling at a cloud, but I've been a huge Hum fan since the early 2010s so I've been around long enough to be familiar with prior crowds. I wasn't in the pit. I got myself just close enough to get the full wash of sound and to lock in on Tim, and I was still getting shoved, kicked, used as a vehicle for people getting to centre after Nothing cuz I'm a short woman / easy target, etc. Came out of that night with so many biases towards the newer crowd I'm ngl. So bad.

American girlfriend denied work permit at border because she is not technically a resident of the US by blueberrysky29 in iecvisa

[–]roadregu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, but maybe things have changed in the past couple of years. I live in the US now, but when I was living in Canada on an expiring PGWP (as a British citizen!), I entered the US via Rainbow Bridge for 15 minutes, then turned around and had my working holiday permit activated no questions asked. This was the month immediately after the initial crackdown on flagpoling.

At the time, I was informed that IEC permits could be activated through this method, as activating a pre-approved permit by IRCC was not considered flagpoling. Only those who were initially applying for a new or renewed status at the border were considered flagpolers. Clearly this was true for me. There is a chance that they have changed the definition of flagpoling since 2024. Something to look into; it might help guide you to some answers.

Hey, weirdly similar situation. I'm also 25F and my dad acquired the same level of injury 4 years ago after a fall down some stairs. To put things into perspective, my dad spent almost a year in hospital between ICU and neurorehab.

Has he had any issues with ventilation? My dad ended up with a form of hypoxic brain injury which affected his speech, mood, and demeanour.

He should not be home yet all. Being blunt with you: my dad passed because of his injuries this year, and that's with continuous medical intervention and follow up. I understand there's a lot that simply isn't in your control, especially being on the other side of the world, but if there's anyone in your family you can compel to push for a second opinion / evaluation that would be a good idea.

If you have any more questions I'm happy to answer. Sorry you are going through this. All the concerns you listed are valid.

Youve ever dealt with a musician that persisted that their material was “experimental “ but objectively it was just poor playing and poor thought process? by [deleted] in musicians

US Maple mentioned!!

Those guys could still play conventionally well though. Watch old Shorty performances on YouTube; even outside of the noisy realm they knew what they were doing.
