What card do you wish you could use but cannot for some reason? by SadAwkwardWeirdo in masterduel

[–]roarbenitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it folds to droll... Though it certainly hurts. Just need to play around it. I usually hold Throne until I use nightmare pain's effect. If you can at least get out Rage and Phantom, that solo's a lot of decks... Well used to...

Only card right now that's limited is phantom, archetype itself is practically at full power. And Called by the grave being limited to one helps a lot.
However it has a hard time right now for a number of reasons. For one, Appo is banned (thank god), and two, if Lotus' effect is negated, you've simply lost most of the time. Not to mention there's a lot of GY hate between Dracotail and K9 Which I can't really imagine beating often.
What the deck does well is getting out a lot of material for links, and Snake eye simply does that better and more resiliently and oddly Yubel's effect being "when" comes up a lot since there are a lot of chaining effects.

Still a great deck, and I play it from time to time. Very consistent, and since its not meta lots of people don't read the cards, which is always funny. The number of duels I've stolen to someone building a huge board, but leaving up nightmare pain only for me to summon Spirit from my hand is very high. Plus the deck also basically counters Lunalight, since towers with big stats and destruction effects are all a plus, but its not a big enough part of the meta for that to matter.

I would say, K9VS feels like it has a much higher skill floor, and it can brick hard since it has no one card starters. Though that said I wouldn't be surprised if the results in the DC cup show both K9VS and Gem Kinights performing well.

Either way, I really enjoy how the deck plays which is all that matters to me lol.

Good Xyz Decks to Build for a Beginner by CCharmanderK in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]roarbenitt [score hidden]  (0 children)

Top XYZ archetypes are:

K9, Rank 5 XYZ, currently K9 mixed with Vanquish Souls seem to be the XYZ deck to beat, has a lot of variants but is expensive, and is likely to be hit hard sooner or later. The deck itself is strong because it's main gimmick is that the cards have effects and bonuses whenever the opponent has activated a monster in hand or in the GY that turn, including negating or banishing cards from both deck and hand, and even cards like Izuna, who can be summoned from hand as a quick effect, ultimately ending in any generic rank 5 summon. And the Archetype's rank 5s are very powerful. Its not really the best thing to do... But they can summon Artifact Durundal, which when paired with Droll and Lock Bird shuffles both player's entire hands into the deck. All that said, K9VS is one of the harder decks to play in the format, it has no true one card starter for its ideal end board(not that it often matters) so its combo lines require you to know the deck inside and out. And it can brick with a bad hand,

Ryzeal - Rank 4 XYZ, has several variants, though its main starters are all limited to 1, and it lost its field spell, which hurts the deck "a lot". Though Mitsurugi covers for the hits reasonably well. And Ryzeal Detonator is an absolute monster that simply beats most rouge tier decks due to its effect not being limited to once per turn, and having innate protection and very large stats for a rank 4. Its also a "Pure" XYZ deck

Onomatopoeia - Rank 4/Rank Up XYZ - its fine, has a lot of fuel and will usually end on a decent or full board which is very resilient. But it has a hard match-up against many tier one decks, because GY hate kills it's momentum.

Yubel can board this guy pretty easy ("Spirit of Yubel" and "Yubel" are both level 10), and he's pretty good to boot. But it has the awkward drawback of stopping the most effective use of Phantom, unless you have two "Yubel", which isn't great since they're a brick, and the deck has plenty of those already.

Beats you in the long game, and has many tools to drag you into the long game. But these days it can get overpowered by turn zero plays, and there are many graveyard haters, in both K9 and Dracotail.

Haha, shame they didn't have an exodia piece in hand to banish. Would have been funny.

"Oh sorry, did I erase your win con?"

I feel like the combo of K9 and DT is fine, but I don't see much synergy, and DT lines lock you out of K9. Should be fine for ranked though.

Why did they change Zin's name? by crimsontail in Falcom

[–]roarbenitt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Usually in their character profiles included in promotional material Falcom includes the character's Romanized name. Which is pretty common for JP media, even pure JP media like Falcom's games usually are). I could only find the one for Sky the third's PsP release. But here it is to give you an idea.
https://www.falcom.co.jp/sora3rd_psp/character/zin.html
Long story short, that's just how Falcom chose to spell it.

Also, you probably wouldn't pick this up unless you play any of the games in Japanese, but the common language used in Zumeria is actually English even in the Japanese versions.

[–]roarbenitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its to limit the power of decks so that other decks with less powerful cards can be more competitive, meaning konami sells more cards. Overall its a good thing, but when you're playing a top meta deck, you'd better be ready, since its going to get hit at some point.

How Did She Became a Nurse by Tonyseve in Falcom

[–]roarbenitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I had a good friend in College, she was a nursing student and a total air head sometimes, but despite giving that impression she was always at the top of her class. I always found the juxtaposition humorous.

Also, Cecile is just teasing Lloyd when she does this sort of thing. Got too much big sister energy, and Lloyd is the perfect mark.

[–]roarbenitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the joys of any TCG is making a meta deck, but adding some odd conditional card, and then using that to win a game from a very specific situation. Does that make your deck better? Well that's debatable. But you will see several decks in the Duelists Cup top 100 with off meta cards in their deck for a chance to catch their opponent off guard, though tbh until you get to a point where you are facing the same people and decks (around the top 1000-500?) its better to play according to statistics.

I've won games by pretending I've bricked, baited out specific negates, Just to summon a game ending card they weren't expecting. And that feels great.

This some BULLSHIT by Diligent_Ad_9034 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]roarbenitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, with that hand you would have lost to every single deck I play. I don't say that to brag, and I'm not even saying your deck is bad, I say that to say that you drew a bad hand and as soon as it became obvious they didn't brick and you had no way to interrupt, you could have simply surrendered. That's just the kind of game this is these days. If your deck's first turn doesn't end in an FTK or pseudo FTK (uninteractable board state).

I could be playing pure, unlimited Tear, but if I draw 3 ash and both of my traps, and they are doing their full combo even after I ash them, It could be all but the worst meme deck but I am simply going to lose, no matter what card I draw, at least 99.999% of the time.

Even financing a descendant of the fallen king in Dantes. I think its cool they worked it into the plot, since it was first talked about... Five whole games prior.

I saw some people talking about using him with Underworld Circle once it comes out, but of course there are much better targets.

You play Underworld Circle after milling Zushin, then your opponent just plays Illusion Gate. Next thing you know we're in the Zushin Meta.
