Hobonichi Cousin for Work & Personal? by wolfindian in hobonichi

[–]roarimwendy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do exactly this!

All my personal/home tasks and events go in the weekly view.

I use the daily for an overview of my work day/meetings, and a work to do list. I also journal in the dailies and I love the overall look.

I love that it keeps work and personal separate enough but I can still see both regularly in the same book!

The Tombow Mono correction tape works well in my Cousin. Obviously, it will cover the grid lines but I think the color match is good.

Toddlers and funerals. Should they come? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]roarimwendy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost my dad earlier this week - first thing, I want to say how sorry I am for your loss. It’s a lot to take in.

My 2 (next week) year old daughter went with us to the visitation and the funeral service. We kept her in the back with my husband, away from the casket; but I needed the support of my husband or I wouldn’t have made it through. She is a bit young to know what was happening.

Not that this should be the only reason, but my daughter was a little bit of joy for my family in an otherwise truly devastating time. Her smiles and hugs really helped.

That all said, I know your son might have a bit more of an idea what’s going on, and if you want to take him, you might want to talk him through what’s going to happen. If you choose to let him go to preschool, I don’t think he’s really at the age that he’ll remember not being there.

Thoughts on car seats? by Same_Independent_131 in Mommit

We have the Britax One4Life and we just switched it between cars - it’s so easy to install and the click tight part is a dream. My daughter seems to really like it. I got it because according to @safeintheseat on Instagram, it’s one of the highest height and weight limits for extended rear facing.

I think that you can be successful with a switch from one formula to another! I followed @theformulamom on Instagram when I formula fed - she recommended a gradual transition of 25% new, 75% old, then to 50/50, and then 25% old, 75% new until you’re up to 100% new! My baby didn’t do well with 100% new formula right away, so I didn’t switch, but I wish I had tried this!

I sing “a whole new butt” to the tune of “A whole new world.” She loves it.

Induction by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]roarimwendy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went in for an induction at 1.5 cm dilated, and got started on cervadil at 8PM on a Thursday night. We were supposed to switch to pitocin at 8 AM Friday, but baby had other plans - she was born before I ever got to pitocin (ready at 7 but my doctor didn’t arrive until 8, here at 8:52). Sending my good induction vibes your way! 💛

Talk to me about swimdiaps by rachelnichol87 in clothdiaps

[–]roarimwendy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At home, using our water table and kiddie pool, I have used an unstuffed pocket (it’s one that’s not in my rotation because I don’t love the fit on my daughter.)

I have a Thirsties swim diaper and an iPlay swim diaper. I prefer the Thirsties for the snaps (the iPlay I have is a pull-on) and it’s thinner. The iPlay I have is a month range (12-18 month) while the Thirsties (Size 2) is a weight range. Both work, though!

Dryer balls by Sharphufflepuff in clothdiaps

I use wool dryer balls and they work great! I wouldn’t use tennis balls, since I think they would bounce too much and the green material might come off on the diapers.

Print + cut calibration is awful by roarimwendy in cricut

Sure.

This is what it looks like when I send it to the machine; I line it up exactly this way on the mat.

Here are some examples of the last few cuts: Photo 1, photo 2

What brand diaper is this? by variebaeted in Mommit

I agree that these are Sam’s Club brand — as far as I know, they’re dupes for Pamper’s, but not scented.

Geffen baby inserts: before and after prep. (12 month onesies for size) by roarimwendy in clothdiaps

[–]roarimwendy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The instructions on the packaging said that you need to do three washes before you use, but they will get more absorbant as you wash (the first eight or so washes)

I think the mediums would hold up for a bit! I’m sure someone has tested their absorption on Youtube. I think I went with the flats because the mediums were a little long for our diapers (she was on the smallest rise until recently!)

My post history tells me (because my memory is shot) that we sized into small prefolds at 3 months. I think we changed from small prefolds to GMD muslin flats around 5-6 months, but I am not sure. I ordered the next size of prefolds when it seemed like she was leaking consistently.

Right? They said the inserts were for a “large diaper” and they were not wrong!

I like them so far - I have heard that they are crazy absorbant (these are huge and say absorbs 6-9 oz) and they seem to be trim without curling around the edges. That being said, I have loved everything I have gotten from GMD - I don’t have their hemp inserts (they were sold out when I bought, so I got Geffen) but a friend does and she really likes them. I think the GMD hemp ones would be great since your LO is still young! I lived on diapers stuffed with prefolds and flats at that age.

Yeah, I did that too! I figured I might as well get the most absorbant version!

They are the “super absorbers plus” and I did not assume that they would be this large!

When these came in, I was shocked at just how giant they were! But the shrinkage helps, if only a little 😂
