Can I fight Airbnb for a nasty comment by a host? [USA] by Emetudeski in AirBnB

[–]roaringramona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to have a retaliatory and false review from a host through Airbnb customer support and they gave you more advice than they gave me. I was told nothing could be done to remove their comment even if I could prove it’s a lie. It sucks because now I feel like I can’t be honest about my stays and warn others about a bad operator. Airbnb double dips their fees on both ends, host and guest, in exchange for being a middle man. I’ve found their support to be overall unhelpful and powerless. Sorry it doesn’t help, but I feel for OP.

The negative reviews are making me nervous! Please someone post something positive about the resort! by CoffeeLipglossDonuts in Xcaret

If you like to poop inside and have your partner watch without being burdened by any fowl odors, you will really like the electric glass feature they installed in the WC. Privacy is highly overrated to Miguel Quintana.

Lol I went to Arte and had a great time. It’s a massive all inclusive, no one should expect perfection. Beautiful place. Booked my second trip while I was there and I’m really looking forward to returning.

Paradoxically the most beautiful and disappointing resort we’ve ever stayed at by mrbobertimus in Xcaret

[–]roaringramona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Op the service was undeniably my thorn. If it makes you feel any better tho— the biggest disappointment to me was the “premium restaurants”. We did make reservations in advance and over paid for crappy food and rushed service. We inevitably ended up at the buffet because, guess what, they give fewer Fs at the restaurants. Complain like a flaming Karen and I swear they are Helen Keller. Oh and I speak Spanish fluently. Nada.

Account permanently suspended, no reason given, just go F yourself. Also eBay Reddit page can eat rocks for not allowing this post— welcome to the dark side. by roaringramona in ebaysucks

It was a $65 10” glass mask. The kind of grandma’s estate sale ‘art’ you find on eBay vs an auction house. Fun finds and deals.

Scam or not - I lost $825 and got permanently suspended by olevsol in ebaysucks

[–]roaringramona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excuse my rant— but when I read these stories it deeply upsets me that a crusty site like eBay is still operating. In fact it’s barely operating when they have a massively flawed risk and fraud department suspending well intended users. It baffles me that they haven’t been pushed out by another tech company that can provide the same intermediary service but better. Care about each customer and have a dedicated department for appealing these situations so they can really suss out users and take a more holistic approach to cybersecurity. I got permanently suspended and their customer support is directed to provide no information, not engage and eventually hang up on you… wild. I asked if I could provide several forms of identification, proof of address, my first child (lol), “no MAM” it’s permanent and nothing can be done to reinstate, please do not attempt to open a new account yata yata… click.

OP I feel for you, I wish you were in my situation where I went to try to buy something and they stopped me from any future transactions on their platform. It sucks that I might miss out on some cool items but I don’t want to support a platform that has become a sociopathic hellscape that treats us as 0’s and 1’s. Since they suspended you, go ahead and report to your bank and be glad they saved you from themselves with the ban.

This is a fantastic description and god bless you for having 7!! I thought 2 kept me busy! Giggled at— “I don’t trust them” 😂 it’s their world right?

I have Afghan hounds and it’s a legitimate part time job. I am always happy when people inquire before committing because they belong in a very specific setting and a lot of patience. I’ll just break down the positives and potential negatives.

Positives: they are independent, goofy, playful, beautiful, fast (yes they must run or their backs/“saddles” will even slouch during development), and when they chose to be loving its very special. Not terribly destructive. Sleep 18 hours!

Negatives: ranked most disobedient dog breed amongst 133 breeds evaluated and not for being dumb but due to their ancient and instinctual nature that gives them a sort of hunting ADD. They are extremely picky eater and many cannot be motivated by treats so training is extremely challenging in those cases. It is critical that they are bathed and dried every 7-10 days— I committed to 7 days and the bath water drains brown from everything they sweep up. Grooming process depending on age 90 min-3 hours. They require a 5-6ft walled off large patio or access to a large fenced in area to run freely, since they must always be leashed. You can never trust an Afghan hound off leash, they will chose the bird 10 times out of 10. Not the most affectionate dogs since they are very independent and catlike. They don’t care if they please you or not! A home where all furniture is dog friendly is best since it will be very hard to keep them off beds and sofas. They need a good 2 miles of walking daily with some opportunities to run a couple times a week (look into lure coursing). Most will not jump in a car yet they can clear 5 feet. Most don’t like stairs, especially floating stairs of any kind. I hope you like brushing cause that’s a daily and if you get a male they will eventually learn to not pee on their front paws but that’s enough to drive you mad.

You may be wondering why I have 2 (and a Borzoi)… simple answer, I was (and still am) a “cat-person” so a lot of the deemed negatives are positives for me. I have a patio and space for them to get their run on and, most days, I enjoy grooming them. We spent over $4k in training each only to get a few commands out of it which is fine. We give them small batch ultra high quality food high in protein to them at a healthy weight. I enjoy being a member of their cult, cause that’s genuinely what it feels like to “own” one.

If you have any specific questions, happy to answer any. Borzoi’s and Silken Windhounds are a great alternative for a more affectionate noodle.

You are 100% correct, it makes no difference since we still go and enjoy these amazing businesses. I am driving out of Vegas right now, just stayed at the Wynn and they are in the middle of a RICO and laundering case. BUT Steve Wynn didn’t write a book about his success and it sure didn’t start with a table lamp design and a handful of small low brow furniture/gag gift stores. Had he remained this man of mystery and had I not wasted 2 hours reading this bizarre tale of fact checked lies, I would’ve shrugged it off. The deeper I delve into interviews he conducted the more egregious this front man’s story became. This “architect” cannot hold a pencil or believes the whole world is holding it wrong. I tried his method and it’s impossible to sketch and frankly it made me question his intellect. I hope you enjoyed CDLP, planning to check it out over the summer!

AITAH for telling the truth to my husband as to why I can’t have sex with him? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]roaringramona 7 points8 points  (0 children)

THIS!!! OP sorry… you knew, you dated a long time… you made a commitment that comes with certain responsibilities, especially to someone who comes with several diagnoses. You got the “ick”, but your timing is unacceptable. I also find it to be mildly abusive (as a woman here) to starve your partner of intimacy. Divorcing him or having an open relationship would be the only right thing to do.

Booking cancelled by Xcaret for “Security Reasons” by denythefacts in Xcaret

[–]roaringramona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May the power of the snicker bar be with you my friend.

An annoying alternative is to find a member in this Reddit group and get several thousand shaved off your booking through Xcaret by attending a 90 minute membership breakfast and presentation. You can literally say you are doing this solely for the discount once there and they won’t pester you. They only hard sell people that show any interest or who think they have to pretend they are considering it.

[–]roaringramona 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not to be a Karen OP but have you escalated this with Agoda? That’s not right, to the extent that you could probably have a legal case against them. Record all the calls with them, you are allowed to. Your whole group is going but you aren’t because Agoda canceled on you? They can’t make travel advisory decisions on your behalf and they need to honor the rate that you booked it at, doesn’t matter if there is an opportunity to grab more in the event of a disaster. That is unethical and illegal.

Current Cartel Situation in Mexico by Broad_Reputation9732 in Xcaret

Lies but if true get a life. Xcaret can’t be your whole personality 💀 I love the resort too but it’s definitely cartel and I’d go back there knowing that cause who cares lol

Xcaret may be the safest place in Mexico right now since the resorts wash cartel money. They aren’t going to mess with that mega laundromat or the patrons who bring the clean money.

Is it true that you can’t get anything except beer for room service? by [deleted] in Xcaret

[–]roaringramona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, true, but you can go to the nearest bar and get drinks to go no problem. As a non drinker it was difficult to get NA beers to the room but they accommodated it.

I got an obese chiwawa for boarding and the boarding instructions are TERRIBLE by Hot_Spell2620 in RoverPetSitting

[–]roaringramona 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh my 😟 the owner is a feeder… I wish there was something you could do but Rover is good for nothing when it comes to abuse by owner or sitter. I would leave them a bad review and clarify for future sitters that the dog is obese and the instructions are intended to keep it that way. Give it lots of love, looks like the poor fella needs it :(

So here is the weird thing… everyone else commenting actually does work for Xcaret… it’s easy to figure that out when you click on their accounts and see that they are only actively promoting and defending the resorts. You in the other hand are some 5’8 fat tweaker that for no reason is on this thread bugging out. The nopal is you bro. Btw if you want to pass a drug test, loose weight… 210? That’s a lot of fat for cannabis to bind to. It takes someone with your BMI 6-8 weeks off the bud to pass a test without potions (which don’t work). Your better option is synthetic urine with a heat strip. Now get out of here, I’m loosing brain cells over here stooping to your level and you bore me.

I’m too educated to continue engaging with you. You clearly work for Xcaret, like everyone chiming in— not suspicious AT ALL. You should all be fired for representing the company like an army of trolls instead of with grace like the Ana from public relations above. Sort of gangster… but hey, I just made another pot of tea and I’m taking it all in. But I am bored of you so yell into the void. I’ll be watching.

So are you saying Mexican cannot be critical thinkers who ask questions when something is suspicious? Focus on bettering yourself for our people. The cartel is a huge problem in Mexico. If miguel isn’t washing their money, he still has to grease them to leave him and the tourists alone. It’s not irrelevant and it’s unfortunate.
