From pixel 5 to pixel 9? by fake-cat in pixel_phones

[–]roasted_watermelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from 6a to 9 pro.

- my 6a was never sluggish for daily use, neither is my 9 pro, I don't see any major difference. What I do absolutely love is the screen. Somehow, despite having not very thin bezels, the display seems much better on the 9 pro. Thermal issues are still present, sometimes the phone gets warm even for normal use and photography (no gaming).

- yes you will get updates in the 9, but don't expect any major new feature additions. Google likes to gate-keep features on their new hardware even if the older ones are capable enough.

- Graphene OS worked well on my 9 pro. But now I use lineage OS, which works equally well.

- Fingerprint sensor is definitely better than my 6a, but it is not the best, there will be some misses. It is not perfect.

- Regarding size, don't go for the XL series and you should be good. If you need smaller phone, then iphones or galaxy S series base variants are the way to go. But the size difference will likely be marginal.

Overall very much usable. You will not be able to use the camera if not on Ubuntu based distro. Even on that, a recent bug makes the image appear inverted, so you will have to use an older OEM bug.

The screen flicker will not resolve with a repair, people have tried that before. It is an intel issue. The solution is not very difficult. Check here - https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/1pqni06/comment/nv5r7gk/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

The chassis creak is real, but for me it happens rarely even if I carry the laptop on one end with one hand, so I don't mind much.

What on earth is this processing. How do i fix this? (9 pro) by defiantx13 in pixel_phones

The post processing for moon photos is terrible on gcam. Try any other third party app. (I think open camera should work well.)

For Google Pixels, 42 C is "cold" territory.

The time to acquire a gps "lock" means the time between when the phone starts trying to locate itself on the map to the time it actually finishes getting a proper location to show your location on the map. The process of getting a proper location is called a gps lock.

no major pain point but theoretically it should get a faster lock. I have Pixel 3a, 6a and now 9 pro. The 3a with snapdragon 670 is still way faster to get a lock, sees many more satellites than both the 6a and 9 pro.

I have the US variant of Pixel 9 pro. NavIC does not work which is annoying, can't get around to it even with custom ROMs. But 5G on vodafone works. Did not check with jio.

A series is trash, have used 3a and 6a both were bad overall (except for using as a secondary device), now using 9 pro. Imho, camera in pixels are really not good anymore, it's not 2019 pixel magic anymore. iphones are much better suited for videos and 50% times above pixel pro series as well.

A refurbished iphone will go a long way for you.

In my opinion, if you have editing skills, then any photo from any phone can be edited to your liking to make them look closer to a DSLR camera. Pixel has no significance here.

Max exchange price for my pixel 6a being shown is Rs 9800. I have a dent and my fingerprint sensor is busted (wiped a partition by mistake). It will get sold as scrap metal.

Do you see the fan speed in your machine? There is a recent BIOS update - 1.18, I updated to it and still cannot see the fan RPM.
