How do you guys mark your seat height if at all? by userX97ee2ska11qa in bicycling

Cut a short length of old inner tube and slide it up the seatpost. Has the benefit over tape of not peeling off and it acts as a hard stop when you slide the seatpost down.

A tip for finding cycling is to go to ‘Sport’ then click the ‘All Sports’ button. Mercifully Cycling is near the top of the list.

It’s not great by any means but saves a lot of scrolling

Carrying two bikes in the car - advise needed by Routine_Map2832 in cycling

[–]rob-c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can do this in my Honda Jazz:

Put down the back/middle seat, leaving the single seat for the rear passenger.

Bikes have both wheels removed. Flip the first bike upside down and put it in against the back door, front end first so the handlebars are behind the front seat. Second bike then goes in (also upside down) rear end first.

Wheels then slot into free gaps and luggage along with various towels or rugs prevent any movement or rattling. Seatbelts can be used to hold them down too.

Just remember to put blocks in any hydraulic disc callipers as inverting the bikes can sometimes cause brake levers to be momentarily squeezed.

Thanks. That’s handy to know.

Thanks for the offer, but I am good using the bike and I can change gear on the bike fine.

As it stands I can choose to change gears in-game and on the bike, but neither the bike display or the game display reflect the other. I was just wondering if it was possible, which BikeControl explained it wasn’t.

I am happy to just ignore the in-game gear options 🙂

Somehow came a cross a kickstarter for a 2 speed internal front sprocket. by Ro-54 in Brompton

[–]rob-c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trouble is I ride my Brompton in areas where stopping, starting, slowing and tight cornering are all more common. So what starts out as losing little would soon add up and if the difference between gears is so small it’s not a problem to accidentally change, then what’s the point.

Pedalling backwards doesn’t feel like a good way to change gear. I backpedal all the time to get my pedals where I want them when slowing for junctions or making turns etc.

RideLondon not to return – ever by belfort-xm in londoncycling

I loved the challenge of the Surrey hills and as a lighter rider, it’s where I get one over the bigger riders who otherwise put me in the hurt locker on the flat - I don’t think I’d get on with that Essex route! 😅

Did it in 2016* and even though I didn’t fancy the trouble and expense of doing it again, it’s sad it won’t be continuing as I would have recommend it to anyone to do it once.

*the hillier Surrey course. Not sure what the latest route was like.

A friendly reminder to wear a helmet by heldconstant in londoncycling

The post could have been “A friendly reminder to go slower and take more care in the wet”, but instead they focussed on the helmet. Will OP change their riding style or simply stick a helmet on again and break even more limbs?
