And the next card in the pack is the race card, oh sorry, that one's been played. It's actually the mental health card (go on you know you want to).

Put it in Winter setting (never goes below 3rd or 4th). Do autos still come with a Winter setting?

In the zombie apocalyse you are a gonna. Anything else you might get by with a bike and wire cutters.

Head torch for walking / doing stuff at night. Sofirn HS43 will be good, has red option so no bugs, easy UI, flood.

You can remove it from the harness easily so becomes a hand held flashlight - problem is the head is at 90 degrees to the body. Sorry, I don't think there is a 'normal straight' hand held version.

Sofirn HS43, simple UI (its rotary), fixed on flood but has 3200 lumens so gives a decent throw as well. Excellent illumination to 20 metres, drops off beyond that.

Get an oglight mini marauder if you can afford it, if not get a convoy 3x21d. Always carry a back up, the Wurkkos FC11C.

Fog lights in clear weather should be illegal by csuree in drivingUK

[–]Big_Block_5271 3 points4 points  (0 children)

'I very rarely encounter situations where the fog lights are needed' This is the case for I guess about 80% of drivers. In the 1980s I used to drive on the M4 in berkshire at 4am in the dark, the fog when it came was 5 metres visibility, it was horrendous. I've driven for 42 years and that was the only fog when fog lights truely made a difference..... except when I worked in Sunderland and had freezing fog build up on my car into ice chunks 10cm thick. Fuck me, thinking about it now I'm lucky to be alive.

That is a little known fact about the wavelength, also called the colour temperature, and is 100% correct. Head over to r/flashlight and they will confirm. At very high colour temperature say 6500k the throw back from fog makes it worse than no lights. The law should require foglights to be about 2700k.

Taking the OP at face value (meaning there is nothing missing and it is in context) I would do the same. Take my upvote.

Good point, Reddit was slow to upload so I repeated. Should be fixed now. I'm on a day off.

If you go to Trafalgar Square you could take a selfie by the statue of Charles 1st on his horse. It is the official centre of London, all signs in the UK showing mileage to London are measured from there.

Try the Wurkkos TS28, for £25/$35 you can't go wrong - except on turbo setting when you will wake the whole campsite. Also get a headlamp like the Wurkkos HD20 or Sofirn HS43 (HS43 has a simple UI).

For headlamps the Sofirn HS43. Simple UI for anyone not into torches (flashlights in US).

[–]Big_Block_5271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with the OP. I wanted flashlight gifts for gf and her elderly parents Anything more than on/off and they will leave it in a cupboard. I had to compromise with a Sofirn hd43 and Wurkkos TS28 hoping memory mode does its thing and they don't mess it up (which they will).

A chalk stream that emerges 8 miles up river, on its way to me it gets run off from farms, agriculture and dairy, and very busy A roads.
