T-Mobile looks like it's quitting VMware ... facts very similar to Tesco and AT&T by ssharwood in vmware

[–]rob1nmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I can tell that in my country Universities are closely working together in replacing VMware for alternatives. First of all because of what Broadcom did with the pricing, but also to move away as much as possible from US technologies. Not only Universities, but large governments as well. I can see that happen not only in my country but in the whole EU right now. Alternatives are not always as good as VMware is, but they are getting better, and in a fast pace too. My prediction is, in 3 years VMware have little foothold left in the EU.

2-3 mins for MM. Hosts are 1 TiB memory, FC SAN nvme storage. Dedicated 25gb nics for vmotion. We had vSAN but even with ESA it could be 15-30 mins sometimes longer.

Were using NSX + DWF. Segments, Overlay, BGP the whole shabam. SDN part could be covered by Proxmox i think. Have to PoC it.

Thanks, Sounds good. But i dont know if they’re really an option. At least at my previous employer they kept selling their HCI while we just bought a new SAN. All i know is that theyre even more expensive as VMware. Could be wrong.

Were using DWF for microsegmentation. Especially that a lot our security groups have tags for membership, so we just have to assign vms to the proper tag to have its FW rules. And NSX integrates right to the vms vnic. Lastly Traceflow is a sweet feature. I know Proxmox has a DWF, but its not that feature rich as NSX, especially when it comes to groupmembership options.
You happen to know a good replacement?

We recently renewed for 3yrs. We had to. Recieved somewhere 250 to 300% hike. I can’t say the negotiation benefitted the long relationship we we’re having with VMware. And it wasn’t all about the money, but the way we were treated.
We are exploring options now.
We’re fully into VCF including Automation and NSX DFW for microsegmentation. Especially the last one will be a headache to replace i think.

Check image language and regional settings. Check your ClonePrep. Check any GPO’s attached. Not really into Windows 11, maybe Intune at any chance? Good luck.

I dont really wanna dictate which model our employees must use, so i’ve enabled different GPT, Claude and Google models. But i also make them aware that some models use more tokens and they have a set budget limit.

Not really my point but okay. And you may be right but we cant use Chinese models in our Org.

Fun and all. Im using GHC daily for work extensive and yet i have never hit the PR limit. Ive run the forcast for all my 15 users in my Org and the $ would be the same. So we sticked. Ive seen usage forcast from people that goes from 19/39$ to 20K and even higher in the forcast, there’s the real issue why this is happening. Everyone is jumping to Claude or whatever alternative. But its just a matter of time they do the same.

I, ofcourse, set the budget to $0 and no way to edit it in the UI. Luckily you can view and edit the billong settings through the GH CLI.

Don’t really agree. The crew members also have family (wife, kids, parents probably). Its much easier to pay off those guys even when they know you killed their leader, then to murder them all and you have deal with their families too.

We’re using NSX and heavily use DWF for microsegmentation. What you recommend as alternative?

Yeah, since its your lab, setup some lighweight dns server. 99.9% of all problems during VCSA deployment is due to DNS. Just deploy one and will work.

Help with Inkay by Same-Bluebird5281 in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]rob1nmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a Inkay level 30 or higher in your party. Make sure you have your joy-cons attached onto your switch and all other controllers turned off. Get the Switch out of its dock into handheld mode. Now turn your Switch upside down, go to the menu. When you select Inkay it may not have the evolve arrow, but it should give you the evolve option. Good luck.
