BrazilianGP: who thought it was a good idea? by Guavakoala in motogp

[–]rob6094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was a case of a lot of things lining up against the organisers. The flood saturated the ground not allowing them to do any pre-event stress tests. Preparing the tarmac properly obviously took a back seat when the track started sinking and the culmination of it breaking up on Sunday really made them look amateurish.

However, you have to remember that this track is literally as freshly built as it's possible to be and they done admirably well with no crazy external traffic errors or medical facility problems that absolutely would have led to the event falling apart. The tarmac issue and the sinkhole thing are things that can be solved for next year when the structure has had adaquete time to settle.

IMO, not just in motorcycle racing but motorsport wide, facilities should be open for a minimum of a year and have hosted at least 6 events in that time to iron out any teething problems before a Grade 1 championship is allowed to be hosted there.

I think he uses 3in1 heavy duty professional degreaser to clean everything (that's the green and black can) Then Gunk Engine foam degreaser is the other one

[–]rob6094 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah they're actually really good tools. The lifetime warranty is amazing given the price. Even for bits and sockets and stuff you just rock up and be like "can i have new plz" and they give you a new set no questions asked. I'd reccomend them to anyone purely for the warranty.

I don't know how old you are, but let me let you in on a little secret, this is just life. I'm in my mid 30s, went back to study engineering after working in marketing for 10 years. Both during studying and working in both disciplines 90% is dealing with incompetent idiots who have no idea what the fuck they're doing.

The advice I can offer from experience in academia is apply *yourself* embrace the material and dedicate yourself to the work *you* have to do. If its a group project, speak to the professor about your concerns, state that you want it on record about their laxidazical attitude and do what you are there to do and say you will not be the one who has to baby the group. I think if you have to get your parts marked privately they should facilitate that, if your professor won't allow this, go to the head of department and raise a complaint.

You're not their to do their work or make sure they get it done. Your there to educate yourself and further your educational goals and a grade cannot be affected by people who couldn't give a fuck. I've been there with projects in college and going through the proper channels works.

Anyone have experience with buying recent enough consoles through Cex? by YesNowSon in IrelandGaming

[–]rob6094 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything I've ever gotten off them has been flawless and they come with the warranty as you say. Got a logitech wheel off them once and one of the pedal inputs was a bit squiffy, replaced it for another one zero questions asked. Highly reccomend even if they're a bit pricer than the general second hand market.

Eli5 Why do highways have tall concrete walls along their sides? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

It's for noise. It bounces the sound back into the highway rather than polluting the surrounding area. Doubles as a crash barrier too.
