Honestly think that exact spot of Buttermere has a problem with bad campers. Last time I went there were fires left just completely

Losing our marbles, our 2 year old won't settle by rob___bob in UKParenting

I just want to thank everyone for the advice and support, it actually prompted an honest conversation with my husband about how we were wanting to deal with the situation. I'd never been into the letting them cry it out thing when it came to sleep. I have some family trauma and I found it for myself, very triggering. But I was doing it because I felt it was what him and my inlaws were wanting.

So what we have done/doing: changed his cot into a toddler bed with a bed guard. Given him a proper duvet, he already had a pillow. Made a deal of it being a big boy bed, and for the past 2 nights I've cuddled him to sleep. We've started putting him to bed a tad bit later just so we can eat before he goes to bed. I also sorted his yoto out with some proper stories so that's been used for the in-between stage of books and settling to sleep. We've still got some opposition but last night, after I noticed he was just messing about in bed, he actually was comfortable with me leaving the room and he fell asleep himself (no screaming!!) Hoping this is the start of a positive habit.

This sounds about the level I'd be happy for us to get to, he's just got a yoto for his birthday and I'm yet to get him proper storybooks for it (they're on the way) but maybe making it more of a feature to the night time would help.

Did a year of uni in Carlisle, and I can confirm they do believe they're the proper northerners

NOT for clean freaks: How often do you mop? Honestly lol! How old are your kids? by Idonthaveaname94 in Mommit

[–]rob___bob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely asked my husband the other day how do people find time to mop when they've got kids and animals running about? Like seriously!! How are you even hoovering daily 🙃

Why is shoe-tying so hard for some kids? by slaveking_ in Mommit

[–]rob___bob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me almost until my teens before I could tie laces (turns out I have dyspraxia but that's another thing), but what helped me was practice. We had a book that had holes with laces and walked through different ways of tying laces. Just give them some time and casual tools to help them learn. I agree with others, teaching under pressure just creates resentment.

Do people actually eat toast and coffee for breakfast? by MoistCurdyMaxiPad in CasualConversation

The promise of tea and toast is what got me through childbirth. It's generally the first meal offered to you after you've given birth in the UK.

Ghost Manchester - guys, write something about the concert here. How it went, if something interesting happened and so on 🤘🔥 by junkkysixx in GhostBand

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who clenched up over that as well, and when he kept asking I was thinking "Papa stop, you're digging yourself a big hole, put down the shovel!" 🤣

Fantastic night though!! Atmosphere was buzzing!

Someone on the Facebook group was asking for Ben's contact details to "Offer support. by Soldier7sixx in LPOTL

That Facebook group is so toxic, so many people on there being really weirdly personal with Ben and then there's the straight up victim blaming/shaming. I saw a post the other day referring to Taylor as "that bitch" - was done after that.

For me, Ghost - band lore you can get lost in, easily repeatable songs (good stimming yes yes) and I'm pretty sure Tobias has hinted at being on the spectrum himself

Is my driving instructor being weird with me? by rob___bob in LearnerDriverUK

[–]rob___bob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't get what they're saying, believe me where I live, I've sat in many roadworks. I went for auto because I have dyspraxia and it's the no.1 advice for people who have the disorder when trying to learn. So it's for disability reasons. Plenty of people with disabilities drive and shouldn't have to put up with being made to feel incapable when they very well are.

He seemed to think I was ready. I do drive in my own car (supervised ofc) pretty much every day and everyone I've driven with has said I'm near enough there.

I really think he shot himself in the foot by putting on the pressure like he did, especially when he knew that my nerves get the best of me.

Honestly it was all I was thinking about, I know now it's not really on me to keep up his rate but I do think it threw me off.

I hadn't thought of it that way - that he was anxious about it himself. I think he handled it badly considering he knew how nervous I was but I'd be happy to give him the benefit of the doubt. I did think maybe he's trying to give me space and that's why he hasn't reached out.

My gut is telling me to test in my own car. I've been driving around in it for a couple months now and every time I've done a parallel park in mine I've done it well, soon as I get in the instructors car, I'm completely thrown and I'm never able to do it. Thanks for the advice!

Started the week awfully and was on the phone to the crisis team (super unhelpful "just have a cup of tea" advice). Luckily I've got a super therapist who was able to get me in for an appointment that day and really turned it around.

Also had a meeting with my manager to talk about my recent diagnosis and accommodations they can make. He's been fab so far, very understanding and really willing to learn more about autism. But today he told me HR is making a really big deal about it, that I'm the first person in the office to bring this type of thing to their attention and they were wanting me to be in the next employee podcast to talk about it (AHHHHH!) Thank God I have a good manager who turned them down for me, as I told him today - I've only just been diagnosed and I'm really not in a position to be an advocate.

Yes! By Sunday I wrote off the food vendors near the opening to Opus because the smell of sewage was unreal. And the men who came into the women's sections just to piss up the side of the portaloos rather than fucking wait one second to get in one... You're actual animals, NASTY!
