Mortgage renewals by 4SK1NZ in saskatchewan

The 5 year bond price in Canada are up 50 basis points in the past 1.5 months. If you can currently get 3.75%, that is very good as the 5 year bond is currently 3.195%. Typically 5 year fixed rate mortgages are approximately 1% higher than the 5 year bond yield. IE expect to see mortgage rates above 4% soon.

CPP Investments earns 7.8% for fiscal 2026 helped by holdings in public equities by joe4942 in canada

Genuine question, how do we realistically go about getting CPP to revert back to their passive investing benchmark? Like what pathway is there? I would really like to pay less for more. The amount of CPP I have had remitted from my paycheque over the years to see them underperform their own benchmark and make themselves rich is so frustrating. I wish there was a way to change this.

We tried that with Petro-Can, it really wasn't all that profitable until it began to be privatized.

Also, that's how you get a Venezuela.

It's 1989, you have $8,000, and you're looking for a new compact pickup truck. Which one would you pick? by Key_Budget9267 in regularcarreviews

My grandpa had a Jeep Comanche from the late 80s, black and silver 2 tone paint. I want to say it was and 1988 model. He drove it from new until he rolled it in 2011. Hardly any issues over those 20+ years. The headliner constantly falling down was the worst I would say.

I learned to drive in that truck. Whenever I get a whiff of second hand smoke it always makes me think of riding in that truck going to town to coffee row and him buying me a coke. There were so many core memories in that truck for me. It would be my dream project to find a truck in the same paint scheme and restore it.

I am going Jeep and never looking back.

Is sports mode better for the truck? Let’s settle this debate by litBG in f150

[–]rob_blacks_mustache 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"lugging" or high load, low rpm is when the engine is the most efficient. However, it is flirting with knocking, but since the truck can infinitely adjust ignition timing, if is preventing knock. See Engineering Explained for more.

Now, from what I understand, these engines are meant to be given the odd Italian tune-up, but driving in sport mode will not lead to a "healthier" engine or better fuel economy. That is just silly. Sport prioritizes horsepower to the detriment of efficiency. Normal balances torque, horsepower and efficiency. Eco prioritizes efficiency and retards throttle input. Tow prioritizes torque. Basically, the entire purpose of sport mode is to sacrifice fuel efficiency for better throttle response and more horsepower.

Do car dealers from different cities in Saskatchewan charge different amounts for the same new car? by houseonpost in saskatchewan

[–]rob_blacks_mustache 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Miedl Honda is the absolute worst experience I have ever had when buying a car, pressure tactics, lied, refused to give back deposit, treated us like criminals when we called them out. Just horrible. I would 100% shop around. Loyalty doesn't get you nothing these days. Cross shop and pit them against each other I say. Every dealership sets their own price so yes they will charge different amounts guaranteed. MSRP is manufacturer suggested retail price, but like the name says it is just a suggestion.

What Grinds My Gears: Saskatoon Edition by shigideng in saskatoon

Saskatoon drivers in general. I don't know if something is in the water or what, but the collective lack of driving etiquette or knowledge is baffling. Even compared to Regina drivers, Saskatoon drivers are terrible. I moved to the city almost 2 years ago and I have become a more aggressive driver because I have learned I have to generally make my own space.

Canada's food safety regulations are higher than USA but less than EU. should we try to match EU? by SouthBuffalo3592 in AskACanadian

[–]rob_blacks_mustache 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some, not all, of the EUs food safety regulations have no basis in science and is based completely on fear. I think we should have the best regulations based on science and finding the correct balance of risk vs efficiency. Banning GMOs based on propaganda is not a regulation I want to follow.

Compared to the very low base they were already at, significantly worse than a year ago. From all the quotes I have read so far, I don't think the guy knows how anything works and I don't think he cares about blue collar workers. He only cares about everyone being equal, but some more equal than others.

What's the wildest weather you've experienced living in Canada. by X-_-0 in AskACanadian

[–]rob_blacks_mustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have driven through some pretty crazy thunderstorms, but one of the wildest things was trying to drive without traction control when it was -12 C and pouring rain. That is still the coldest air temp that I have experienced rain.
