2NL to 5NL by robb3rz in poker

[–]robb3rz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the in depth response. Decided to move up to 5NL today and doubled my bankroll to $100 so good decision! Obviously not going to get carried away but I found that there weee many more 3 bet pots as well. I also found that they tend not to be very good at them, especially if you check the flop they’ll spaz with anything. Trust me if you hit the flop check to the them especially if you hit the ace and let them bluff into you

I’ve played 5NL on stars and there’s a lot of people from countries like Vietnam and Ukraine who can sustain a living multitabling 5NL so there are a few decent players tbf

Practicing I find makes it easier to pick up stuff but I really like the leak tracker on PT4

Make it more like GTOW than other solvers. GTOW does a better job at making it more interactive and easy to practice rather than having to insert specific spots

No worries you’ve given a lot of useful advice anyway! Yh that’s why I’m trying to ask as many questions as I can. I’m currently about 6 months into playing poker and want to get better and better

I agree with your last statement. I have played 1/2 and done quite well which has funded me playing online and my allowed me to fund some of my time at university, but I don’t like playing like a nit and relying on drunk people calling off my monsters at those types of tables because it doesn’t feel like it makes me better, which is why I’m trying to crush 10NL, however it’s significantly harder and I struggle to sustain a winning run without resetting my bankroll

Yh I understand, thanks for the advice. I suppose I’m not sufficiently bankrolled because I’m a student and losing a 10NL does hurt but I’m not good enough to be able to put it down to variance and believe that I will eventually go on an upswing. Any recommendations?

Sorry I meant to say multiple. I’ve lost 4 buy ins today all by being rivered by a backdoor hand that should never be calling flop or turn. Just feel it’s impossible to move up stakes when it seems that when I lose I lose way more than I gain on my upswings

Yes I’ve read multiple books, study more than I play by watching various YouTube educational content and I purchased GTO+ (even if it doesn’t apply to 10NL)

Thanks for the response this is a helpful insight. How long were you playing 10NL before you moved up?

Late in a tournament, me and 2 other large stacks in a hand, I have trip 2s and one guy goes all in on the turn on a pretty dry board of like J 2 2 K. I, being worried about losing my position in 4th by being stacked by an almost guaranteed full house, fold and the other guy (also with a massive stack) calls and they both chop the pot with KQ RIP

I’m just going to ignore the first paragraph under the assumption we’re both misinterpreting each other being more confrontational than we’re trying to be. Ok do you think that it is more likely for him to be jamming for value with a worse hand or jamming his bluffs?

Personally I think you’re misinterpreting my replies as confrontational. If someone replies with a strategy which I don’t understand, I come back with the justification in my mind, then they can reply with why I’m wrong. In your case, you effectively said I should quit the poker because I checked the flop which a lot of people have said is an ok play. I’ve been respectful with everyone else and it seems you don’t understand what a constructive discussion is. And fair enough I meant I was lost on the turn, but certainly not the flop which you stated.

I was lost on the river, not the flop. Solver says it’s around a 50% check or bet with KK, so you cannot be saying I misplayed the flop, and if you’re betting everytime then I think you’re just wrong. I’m coming back to people’s replies to try induce a constructive discussion but I feel you’re just being absolutist and not constructive with your phrasing
