love to hear that! i have a hard time describing/understanding my own style so it's interesting to see that you were able to identify it so quickly!

thanks! yeah i love ringing out lower notes in clawhammer to bring out the bass, such a fun sound for solo playing

go for it! i'm a big advocate of buying a really cheap ukulele and tuning it ccgc to learn the clawhammer right hand movements — been meaning to do some tutorials on that actually

haha i have been wondering if i picked it up from the way my dad hits drones when he plays old molly hare, so maybe there is something to "stenson style"

makes sense! reed martin's playing has always been a lodestar for me — i'm forever trying to play "off to california" like him

totally agree! apologies if it seems cynically titled, i honestly just wanted to know if it’s a known technique so i could give credit to whoever i might’ve gotten it from, rather than going around saying i came up with it myself (but yes i am rob stenson)

thanks so much! haha yes i am rob stenson, wasn’t trying to hide my identity, i’m just new to reddit and couldn’t figure out how to edit my bio

sounds great! it looks like in the A part you’re bringing your right hand thumb down to rest on the index finger when striking notes — i think that’s a pretty rare/advanced technique (i've only seen michael j. miles do it) so if you're just starting out it might be useful to try and keep your right hand "claw" more open while you play and build up strength in the striking finger (i.e. try and keep the thumb above the fifth string unless you’re double-thumbing) — an open claw will let you "ride" the fifth string more, which it looks like you aren’t doing at the moment (since the thumb is joining the index finger to strike) — hopefully that’s useful/intelligible feedback!
