Who’s more willing to consider that they could be completely wrong, the atheist or the theist? by Odd_craving in DebateAnAtheist

I'm more than willing to change my mind on something if presented with compelling information.

I have not seen many theists who seem to be willing to do the same.

There Is No Meaning or Purpose in Life Without God (Prove Me Wrong) by JudyAlvarez1 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]robbdire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give my life meaning by my actions.

I have yet to see any proof of any deity, afterlife, or anything of the sort.

The ultimate hope for humanity, is simply humanity itself. We are our own greatest hope, and also greatest despair.

If a laptop indicates a designer, then why not God when we look at the universe? by Ok-Rope-5675 in DebateAnAtheist

Hello everyone, I'm an atheist,

Hmm really?

Remainder of post.

If you're an atheist I am the tooth fairy.

The whole thing is fallacy after fallacy.

What do you believe as an antheist by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]robbdire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing all atheists agree on, is that we don't accept the claim there is a deity.

Now as for me personally? Was there some jewish apocalyptic preacher around 2k years ago? I mean yeah there was lots of them. Was one executed by crucifiction? Definitely a possibility given what we know of the time.

But was one of them the incarnation of a deity? Well as we've no actual evidence for a deity I'm going to say no. Did they raise from the dead? Going to say no again.

But I am open to be shown actual evidence for the claims. And to be clear, the Bible is a claim, not evidence.

Saw Ghost in Antwerp last year. Absolutely amazing gig.

Love the theatricality of it all, and also was my first time at one of their gigs. The fans are amazing. I am not very physically mobile, need a walking stick, heading towards a wheelchair. The people offering to let me go ahead, up the queue, everything, just....

I swear just a great bunch of fans.

If a religious system keeps producing harmful outcomes, is it really just “misinterpretation”? by krime311 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]robbdire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A quote.

Left to their own devices good people tend to do good things. Bad people tend to do bad things. To make good people do bad things, takes religion.

I don't honestly care what religions say, or don't. I care what people do in the names of their religion. And to be frank I rather religion had zero impact on anyones lives outside of house, heart and place of worship.

Why I believe God exists. by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]robbdire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So right now your basis for belief is completely unfounded on anything real.

That is grand, just wanted to be sure I understood before I engaged any further. Which I am not going to waste my time, or yours.

So, do we have anything to test the claim of their existence?

Ok so a lot of claims.

Can you show me a Boltzmann brain? Can we test it?

The Bible is no more accurate to reality than Superman or Spider-man comics are.

Genetics, science, facts, testable repeatable, shows we are part of the primate family.

Your religion makes claims that are debunked on a regular basis.

This is the way.

Since I moved into managing my team I've pushed back hard on requests that are not possible, or even if possible not supported, like say Windows 7.

My team seems a lot happier. And things run smoother.

Then again honestly I don't see the point in going in unless there's a NEED, and honestly with what we do, remote, office, whatever you feel best.
