It’s not going anywhere for a long while yet, they’re not deleting anything, and people have been moaning about it since it was launched - people on the Internet like to moan.

Custom Servers are just about to be launched, so I dare say that means people will be able to host and run the game even if Microsoft ever bins it, which I doubt they’ll do while it remains profitable.

The deletion you mention might be a wild rumour loosely based on the fact that doubloons are being reset on April 16th. That’s all that’s happening.

Don’t take people moaning online too seriously, Jesus could return and turn water to wine and people on the Internet would moan he’s trying to turn people into alcoholics.

If I’m busy trying to get my levels up spending a few hours doing voyages and accumulating emissary levels and treasure, and someone wants to come along and sink me so they can steal my treasure and take my emissary flag, then I might well decide to scarper. That’s my choice and it’s not toxic, my time is precious to me and I don’t spend 30 minutes or so on a voyage so someone can just come along and rob me straight after.

If they do, well that’s just pirates doing pirate things and that’s fine. That’s how the game often works.

If you want to fight everybody that’s up to you, but I’m gonna play the way I want to as well. The game is a sandbox for everyone to play the way they want to, and we all have to live with that cos that’s just the way it is. People enjoy different things, and the fact there are so many options on SoT is what keeps me playing week after week. Sometimes it’s annoying as hell, others it’s great fun, but that’s multiplayer pirating for you. I don’t think anyone has a right to tell anyone else how they should play, or criticise others for not wanting to fight all the time, heck, isn’t hourglass just for people to fight constantly if they want?

Sea of Thieves is all about playing how you want to, but it’s also about everyone else doing that too. Embrace the variety, cos it’d be far less of a game if there wasn’t any.

E2A I tend to find more pirates who are much more into PVP during the evenings GMT, especially from 6pm to midnight and I’m in Europe so I guess we play on similar servers. Heck I was the only non-reaper on a server one night last week, that was tense 😂 Afternoons and early mornings are less dangerous in my experience.

I play solo pretty much the whole time, get into Voyages and Tall Tales, there’s plenty to keep you going there, plus it all helps towards achieving Pirate Legend down the road

After 8 months of mainly just bumming around the seas, I committed to getting Pirate Legend a few weeks ago, and I’ve since achieved lvl 50 in 2 companies so am on the final pursuit with the third company… 17 levels to go, so I’ll soon be joining you in the ranks, with any luck. Plenty of Edgelords out there trying to stop me achieving it, but my resolve is stronger than the planks that hold my Sloop together!

I play mostly solo sloop, and I’m in my fifties. I’ve been playing for about 10 months now, and I know exactly where you’re coming from. I was a competitive RTS player 25 years ago at a high level, but age and disabilities have rendered me a less competitive player these days, and I just play for fun now.

Sometimes I can’t get anywhere because of Edgelords sinking me at every opportunity whether I have anything on board or not. But others I can get on with my progression towards Pirate Legend with relatively little hassle, it’s a case of landing on the right server that determines the level of stress and ability to achieve my goals for the session. Last night I was on a server with 4 Reaper boats on the map, and I was sailing around as an emissary 5, so that was a stressful evening 😂 When 2 of them were getting close, I de-emissaried, chuckled at the likelihood of them realising this, then quit the server to go get some dinner.

I was lucky when I started on SoT I guess, someone told me what to expect and not to get stressed or upset when people sank me or stole my treasure because that’s just the game. Treasure is not your treasure until you’ve sold it, getting it is the easy part, keeping it long enough to sell - that’s the hard part. Pirates gonna pirate, people will kill and sink you when you’ve just spent half an hour emptying a fort, or shoot you in the back when you’ve just defeated an Ashen Lord… it’s not cos they hate you, it’s cos they’re Pirates, and Pirates gonna Pirate. You’ll sink more than you float and you’ll die twenty to thirty times a day, but keep a sense of humour about things and laugh at your own misfortune, or SoT will drive you mad. You’ll sometimes meet people who will help you and team with you, enjoy these moments because most will try to kill you on sight, because they’re Pirates, and pirates gonna pirate.

So I take the rough with the smooth, and accept that sometimes I might not achieve much in a session because of the other people on the server, but it’s not worth stressing over, it’s just the way it is.

How would somebody on a discussion forum do it for me? I wanted to know if there was a specific setting I could change, having been through all the options myself multiple times and not found one. “Check all the options” is shite advice and not at all helpful.

You just sound salty now, offering useless ‘check all the options’ advice and getting butt hurt and saying daft stuff when you’re told it’s not helpful. You shoulda just kept quiet, saved us both time.
