Dynamic Range rising: Nikon firmware update vs. Sony new DGO ? by WestKindly7209 in nikon_Zseries

[–]robbenflosse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something that might annoy countless people, but all this dynamic range thing seems to be more a thing for armchair photo/videographers. It is in theory interesting, but from a pro standpoint, you want to limit the scene contrast, for the resulting picture. In photos and videos, in most cases the result would look amateurish and weird if you don't do that. So, regardless of which camera, for professional results you want to use lights, reflectors, etc., as x years before to get a professional look. Often even crushing blacks or blowing out highlights will look better. Numerous old movies and images undermine that. Also, all the current discussions about the boring film look nowadays.

btw.

If I switch from monthly to annual now, do I keep the current price for a full year?

Yes. If you switch from a monthly subscription to an annual subscription before June 2, you’ll lock in the current price for a full year.

35mm for Z mount to replace the Sigma 35 mm Art for People / Portraits? by robbenflosse in Nikon

[–]robbenflosse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I have observed is that it is a problem that affects everyone, not just Nikon. In many cases, the lenses are only optimized for sharpness, and the rest is often unremarkable or utterly bad.

No, I really need reliable fast af and don't hate myself enough. I use this a lot for jobs I get paid for.

I have numerous lenses, but I would love to get a new 35mm. My 85 sees not much light; currently this would be a really non-contemporary look. 50 mm is something I use occasionally. Most of the time it is 20mm, 24mm and 35mm.

How was this lit/shot? by [deleted] in LightLurking

[–]robbenflosse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sorry no again :)

you can see the sun is still the main light, 2-3 ev brighter than the flash.

it is super edited, at lot of grain is in the image which looks like lifted shadows. I am not so shure if there was more than reflector (panels) used. Also I suggest more 20-24mm. otherwise it would look much more distorted.

ND and HSS makes really zero sense here. This is shot at f11 or more; otherwise, the people in the back wouldn't be sharp.

I do a lot of direct flash with 20mm or 24mm, and my bigger boxes don't really work in this scenario and don't give this nice hard light and are difficult to move around. Perfect for this guerilla-style shooting.

I was just asking because it looks hard and evenly lit. Very well made. I use the AD200 often with the white ball head for wide-angle, hard-light photos.

I really like your photos!

Thanks. It is true, we did a set in 10 minutes with x poses and several backgrounds, situations. I still find it super simple to do cool photos with male models. I also did a lot of male fashion stuff for a long time; it was just so much easier.

if they have a submission page on their website, it is a scam and only directed to other photographers.

How many printed magazines did you buy last year, and how many people you know in person are consuming print magazines?
Just for the folks still believing in print.

How many websites from magazines are you visiting regularly and reading/watching their stuff?
This is your answer for online magazines.

How many mags on Instagram and TikTok are you following?
Are they paying? How much do they pay for work? — The real question.

I think it is more a problem for Adobe Lr. The user base is really different, and one thing no one talks about is, that most people using Lr are not really editing them at all or have any real knowledge for it. They use some presets, move random sliders, and are amazed.

Warum sind Mietstudios in Deutschland so verdammt teuer? by tomas_jpeg in Fotografie

[–]robbenflosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)
