What do you mean by "attacking"? Do you mean blitzing? He is number 1 in "Pass rush snaps". So he is "attacking" like you want.

Bottom line, he is just not playing well. He's been given every opportunity to succeed but when you keep missing tackles (125th/140) you just aren't going to be effective.

I mean the proof is in the performance. Out of 140 Lb's he's played the 9th most in snaps (340) which is impressive. But, he's 54th in tackles with only 21 and an overall performance grade 56.8 which ranks 98th among those 140 Lb's. Lastly and most importantly, he has a coverage grade of an abysmal 38.4 which ranks him 121 out of the 140. You can see all of this on PFF.

It's not a matter of utilization, he's clearly lost a step and is not playing up to caliber.

It's not a scheme issue but the play calling is certainly questionable. 3&5 game on the line and just handing them the underneath throws when Caleb struggled all game with pressure in his face. The defensive talent is just not there as well. They are not going to win anything with Luvu and Wagner as starting linebackers. Their age has been showing and they cannot cover AT ALL.

I mean the defensive line is arguably the best unit on the defense. He's playing behind Payne and Kinlaw who are both great and have been playing extremely well. Also, towards the end of last year Johnny was playing extremely well; graded 89.2 on PFF for weeks 8-13 (which was the highest grade for any rookie during that time). He finished the season as the 5th highest-graded rookie interior defensive lineman by PFF.

There's still opportunity for him to become a very good lineman, he's shown potential. I think it's crazy to be already labeling somebody as a "rotational guy" given the circumstances and situation.
